It seems like every release and every seasonal cycle we’re getting some from of recycled content, whether it be from D1 or the early years of D2. It blows my mind how much this happens and even more so how much people eat it up.
IMO - it’s lazy, plain and simple. Becoming more invested in this game, spending more time playing and familiarity myself with the “culture” around it has really put a sour taste in my mouth for Bungie. I can’t think of another consumer experience where customers (bc that’s what we are) are constantly sold the same recycled shit over and over and are expected to be excited about it. If you really take the time to look at the list of weapons and content it’s staggering. Why is Bungie able to keep doing this? Why don’t we demand more from a company that we keep in business? Why is no one else talking about this?
Some examples from the list that goes on forever:
Beyond light:
Hawk moon
Cosmodrome
Vault of glass
No time to explain
Etc, etc
Current weapons:
Eye of sol -> revoker reskin -> blue sniper reskin
Recluse -> death adder reskin -> blue smg reskin (and now they skinned the reskin to sell this same pos smg to us again this season)
Widows byte, distant tumulus, apostate, some random blue sniper (same as above, sold to us again this season)
Lunas howl -> some blue HC reskin
Summoner -> some blue auto reskin
Every IB armor set is reused from early D2 or D1
Trials gear - reused
Yay new dungeon, new loot right? Nope- shotgun, hand cannon, sniper, smg, armor - every single thing here is either repurposed or reskinned from previous content. AND to be clear all of these weapons should have been updated immediately once the new perks/mod scheme came out whenever that was, forsaken I think.
Dire promise - re-release from early D2
Old fashioned - same as above
Felwinters lie - D1 reissue.
Last hope / last dance - early D2.
Thorn, last word, bad juju, outbreak, whisper, hard light, Monte Carlo, queen breaker, telescope, sleeper, ace of spades, thunderlord, jade rabbit, truth, chaperone, 4th horseman
The list goes on and on and on.
I understand that some legendary variations are built off of blue / green weapons but still this is a lot. Exclude those from the list if you want, the point still stands.
I understand the appeal of nostalgia and wanting weapons from the past but if they’re going to sell us a new game then they really should give us new things and with that I would expect 90% or more to be an acceptable ratio of new vs reissue, but that doesn’t feel like that case. Then the reissue would actually mean something, not like now where it’s “what D1 weapon or armor are they going to sell back to us this time?”
We, as consumers should demand more and we deserve more. Personally, I’ve sank nearly $300 in D2 since it’s release with season passes, DLCs, and an occasional silver bundle - all of which were done with little knowledge of D1 having played it here and there but nothing like D2. I won’t be spending another dime until we’re given a plan of what the future looks like.
This is just bad, lazy, and passionless product development.
Edit - spelling, sorry on mobile

Bearbeitet von Cowabungus: 9/29/2020 5:24:37 PMHawkmoon and No Time to Explain are literally just 2 exotics, out of a whole expansion, and the Cosmodrome is not even a selling point. It’s just a free destination.

Its like how people think TTK was better than forsaken all nostalgia 👀
I'm just playing. Imo forsaken is better I'm up to debate
Look man, Bungie is a premium developer who adds a premium price for their work because it's premium. You aren't supposed to complain about remastered and reskinned content because it's Bungie's content! 😂 Ok, ok, sarcasm over (although, I really do think they believe some of that...)

I love to watch you come....but I hate to see you leave. Come see me more guardians~ Forever your eververse 😏😈

I was just saying this to a friend! Its not new content its old content revamped. They need to stop destiny2 where it's at and just put time into making d3. One of the best parts of d1 is that they freaking left it alone..... Paying almost new game price for a dlc that's unlocking content already a part of the game, Give me a freaking break...oh and the freaking vault to lock away content that we have already paid for is outrageous!! Yes they are bringing in new content but if you haven't paid for the current "expansion" you don't even have access to it!! I loved destiny but bungie is ruining it with each passing day. Its turned into a money pit of BS

Don't forget how the game modes are reskins of last year's seasons. This year is pretty much year of the reskins. Pay 40 dollars to fight the exact same bosses you've already paid to fight on the exact same spot on the Moon in Rise of Iron 2: Hive Boogaloo. Season of Dawn. Pay 10 dollars to do a watered down, reskin Osiris verison of Season of Opulence. Season of Worthy. Pay 10 dollars to play a reskinned version of Black Armory's Forges and get ready for the seasons exotic to be an exotic from DESTINY 1!!! Season of Arrival. Pay 10 dollars to play PvE public event Gambit then fight the same Shrieker boss over and over again to hear Eris whisper boring crap about the Darkness on Io. I like how bungie is vaulting Titan but did absolutely nothing with it. There's a leviathan in the water, but the only thing we get is a slight joke about it from a public event? The hell?

We get Mawk Hoon back in BL?
-
So the free D1 content is the selling point for the next DLC? How does that work?
-
Untill the scarab lord quits or gets fired. Expect this. Don’t give Bungie any more money.

All I know is that I’m taking a break and will probably be back in January
