look into 'powerline' network adapters. no need to run a new wire, you can use the existing electrical wires in your home. i set my sons xbox up with it and it works great. be aware, you can't plug them into power bars or extension cords, they need to be plugged directly into an outlet for best results.
Ahhh , yess ! Thank you I'll definitely look up more info about that. That'd be awesome!
So your son's Xbox connection is just as good if not better than most connections , speed wise?

his xbox was in an area of the house where the wifi was weak. he still had a 'stable' connection but would get lag now and then and downloads of games/updates took forever. with the powerline adapters his speed (both up and down) increased by 5x and now doesn't get any lag, so yes, it helped him a ton.

Connection is great, I ended up finding out I didn't have the up to date router, was sent a free new one. Current "5g" Wireless network with my Netgear extension. I'm getting well over 150 Mbps with 95 Mbps upload speed !

What do I need to buy?
