Sbmm only benefits bad players who do not want to improve. In a sense, you could say that this type of player only exists because of sbmm.
Face it, you only played bad players, so you developed bad habits.
You can fix those, and you’ll be fine, but it’s going to take some improvement to your game.
I’m almost 50 with a wife and kids. (Not time to play all day.). If I can do it and have fun anyone can.

Bad habbits are real. I've been running away more and my kd is improving. Gotta be willing to let kills go.

Choosing your engagements is really important! Cheers!

Have this upvote from a fellow husband/dad. Ascendant Nomad has a video that elaborates on your point, and more people should watch it. It'd probably do them some good. I haven't noticed a huge shift one way or the other in the quality of my games. Sometimes I stomp, other times I get stomped, and other times it's a brawl between teams until the very end. That's just how it goes, regardless of SBMM or CBMM.
-
Thanks, will definitely watch / use in the future.

Sbmm does benefit the casual...but quick play is for casuals....oof IB can be connection based, but get rid of the teams against solos. It’s annoying. There already light level advantages which are terrible now that I’m on the low end lol. Fighting and scratching my way to 1040 just to feel like I can challenge somebody in ib was annoying. Which speaks moreso to the power level system which should’ve been done away with.

lol Sbmm benefits players who don’t want to be matched against full time pvpers with pvp meta armor builds, pinnacle weapons and experience... Sbmm matches your against players of similar skill - making matches more fair and balanced... Only reason someone would be against Sbmm is if they prefer to take advantage of inexperience... And if you’re one of the greatest in the game why would you want to be hatched against anything less than that...

As I've said elsewhere: I have far more respect for sweats who actually own their "Hey, I just want to laugh and curbstomp pubs" attitudes than I do the ones who try to hide that behind "it's good for you, it's the only way you'll get better" bs.
-
Yep, insecure little boys.
-
The way I see it, destiny is way too casual of a game to have sbmm. Being good or bad at PvP doesn’t matter much. This isn’t an esport game
-
Does enjoying a GAME matter???
-
Too casual? All the more reason to have matches between those if similar skill levels...lol I love watching pvp folks twist themselves into pretzels defending cbmm- for your own awareness, cbmm is not a fair fight...
-
Isn’t it hypocritical of the skilled players to say that the bad players should get better, but skilled players don’t want to face people of equal skill, thus also not getting better themselves? If you are so skilled, and are having a hard time, and all your matches are sweaty, maybe you should just “git gud”.

I think both is needed. A 6v6 playlist that is cbmm where you play for valor and a smaller ranked playlist that is sbmm where you play for glory with its own rewards.
-
I don't care who I play but I want a good connection while doing it.
-
It also benefits bad players who CAN'T improve. Reaction time is hard-wired.

Bearbeitet von pacificdune: 7/1/2020 4:24:17 PMYes, there may be some physical disabilities that set an upper bound, but study after study has shown that practice leads to improvement in mental acuity, physical performance, and reaction time. This is why people practice in sports. That’s why we do rehab after an injury. You are never hard wired to perform at a certain level. Different people may have different limits, but practice, smart play, and avoiding bad habits will always lead to improvement.

So tell me, does a 12 year old hockey player play in the NHL? No - because that would be silly, right? He doesn't have the size or the skill level to compete with those much more experienced than he is...does he practice in the NHL? Because like you said, study after study has shown........... And now you understand why PVP needs SBMM...you're welcome....
-
Apples / oranges. I can’t beat an NHL player in hockey, but would love to play him in rumble. I don’t want to be in an artificial bubble of low skill players.
-
Funny, because you would only be in a 'bubble' of low skill players if you yourself were of similar skill, if sbmm was employed properly.
-
I’m an average player. Feel free to check my stats.

Then your argument is flawed on principle. You don't want to be in a bracket with other players around your skill level? Or are you on the side that you don't want to be in brackets with players vastly above or below your skill level?? The first is a little confusing - playing skilled players around your level, your rankings would improve if you improve and thus your pool would change to reflect that.... unless you are a sadist/masochist and get off on being pubstomped?? The second is literally fixed with proper sbmm. You won't be paired against high-skill, low-skill players that aren't around your own personal skill level.

Bearbeitet von pacificdune: 7/2/2020 10:24:31 PMIt’s perfectly simple really. There are three main reasons: 1. I don’t want to play just people at or near my skill level. This makes me develop bad habits that would not work against better players. 2. I want my reward for improvement (I have improved, and will continue to improve.) to be that I do better, and have improvement rewarded in that way. 3. I improve faster by facing very good players. I see what they do. 9 times out of 10 they beat me, but I learn from them. SBMM just breeds bad players who think they are decent until something like trials comes along and they get exposed, or they turn off sbmm and they get exposed. Team balance and teams versus solos is definitely an area for improvement, but I want to see everyone in the playlist, not just those at or near my own skill level. Some matches I’ll be sticking to my team and trying to play the objective. Others I’ll slay out and lead my team. Variety is the key, and what makes it fun, SBMM just coddles bad players who don’t want to improve, at the expense of everyone else.

If you truly play to improve; you would improve in the cbmm game modes - and then when sbmm game modes come around, if you have actually improved like you are arguing on the side of, there wouldn't be a drastic discrepancy like there is now. As it was stated somewhere else in this thread - playing players slightly better than you in incremental increases, raises your skill. Playing players drastically better than you in frequent intervals does not raise your skill. You can claim that you improve better that way - but if that was the case, then sbmm wouldn't pair you with people below your skill level to the point you couldn't 'improve' anymore. That's just simple sorting facts; not even trying to be insulting here. If every player that claimed they improve by playing top tier players, actually improved, sbmm would just pair those players together and they would still be improving their skills from the players that are inevitably just a little bit better than they are. The trade off -- they just get to go into matches knowing they will have to constantly be playing their hardest and trying to improve instead of knowing there is a good chance they can slack some and still be 'good'. As an average player, as you've said you are, you should be fighting for sbmm in the competitive game modes; not sbmm in every mode everywhere. That's not even what I'm fighting for. Trials/IB should have sbmm - and be the modes where 'high skill'/top tier/above average players are paired with those people; for players wanting to 'improve' so they can compete in those modes, they can improve in the cbmm modes like they always have (if improvement is truly their goal).

Bearbeitet von pacificdune: 7/2/2020 10:43:10 PMYou have played about 300 hours of crucible, but are still in the bottom 20%. I challenge you to get better. Watch your map, stay close to your team, disengage fights you know you will lose. Do this, and under cbmm you will be greatly rewarded.
