  • Don't know why the streamers are a bigger issue than regular recovs, but I agree.

  • I don’t have a problem with streamers it’s more the fact that they are flaunting the fact that they are breaking terms of service. I think it’s impossible to prove a recov even by stat checking as a player could honestly just have a weekend where they are on fire (as unlikely as this is). It is just streaming a recov makes it obvious and so surely bans could be implemented.

  • I don't like recoveries and agree with the flaunting issue of streamers and the cancer they have inteoduce in trials for this game... however, the terms of service is not broken due to the consensual nature. If anything, the person paying for recovery is at fault but again, its lose (psn and xbl) and very difficult to enforce legally. If you read the terms of service and eula on destiny, xbl and psn, you won't find anything concrete about the legality. In edge case, you can call it an account transfer which is completely legal on all platforms.

  • Yes these grey areas are what make it a tough position to enforce. Totally agree.

  • Fair point. I get that it's a very grey area outside of definitive cases like streaming. Like, I've gone on some of my friends accounts just as a favor to farm out crucible objectives, how could you tell the difference between that and actual paid recovs?

  • Exactly and this is also where it is grey because is it ok for me to play on my friends account to just help him out or not? It is a very tricky situation. I’m not one of these guys that hates streamers, I actually have massive respect for them but this one area seems wrong to me.

  • Yeah, I remember watching a TrueVanguard video where he pointed out some recovery guys that were so frustrated that they couldn't do recoveries because they ran into too many recoveries- so they just started cheating. At the same time, the accounts of the people using the services are obviously dedicated to the game, so I can imagine Bungie would be hesitant.

  • Totally agree and the point you are about the people paying being dedicated is one that is overlooked. If a recov does say 20 recovs in a weekend (60 over their Fireteam of 3) then that’s 60 people taken out of the playlist who would like to go flawless. This reduces the amount of ‘average’ players and substitutes them for far less but high skilled players, making more people quit as Trials gets harder and more people start paying for recovs. Expand this to the amount of recovs actually happening and the numbers could be massive. This cycle just spirals until we have such low numbers. I think this issue is just as massive as cheating, bad flawless loot, lower skill players not being rewarded for their time and things like 3 peaking slowing down play. The problem is very few streamers highlight this as an issue because they are likely friends with the guys that do this and arguably the 3 best Destiny players are streaming recovs every week. Aztecross and TrueVanguard are the only two to my knowledge who have spoke about this and big props to them. My solution would be that Bungie lay out a very clear warning ahead of a season stating that from next season any streamed recovs would have the account being recovered banned for say a month or a season or whatever they deem appropriate. Then it’s up to the player is it’s worth risking this and the streamer having to choose to do a recov off stream, stream playing stacked on their own account all weekend or then doing carries (something I have no issue with).
