It slows down games to a complete standstill, and grants players way too much information for zero risk.
There have been matches where I see all 3 enemies start emoting, and I literally put my remote down with my guardian behind a wall, maybe even go to the bathroom. Sure as Hell know that they aren't going to push, and I don't want to take a risk of getting Revokered into oblivion with some dude who knows exactly where I am (especially with my flinch pushing his reticle onto my head).
You nerfed OEM for a similar reason, and that cost an exotic slot. This is active at all times, for free.
Edit:
I've been seeing some people ask what could be done about it, and I can try to offer something.
Swords only put you in third person when they have ammo, and emoting is disabled in Trials while enemy players are alive.

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

6 AntwortenI’m normally on your side about things like this, but it’s painfully obvious that no one cared about 3-peeking until streamers started complaining about it recently. I never once heard anyone complain about it in Destiny until a few months ago, and the same streamers driving the narrative are the ones that taught it to us all in D1. Is it fair? Not really. But I don’t wanna see it removed until something is done about sniper flinch so they can be properly countered. Until then, don’t force me to commit suicide by challenging.
-
3 AntwortenWhile you're at it, might as well ask for all Supers to be like Golden Gun and in first person only.
-
10 AntwortenEverybody can do 3-peaking why are you complaining, it’s not like only a specific class or certain people have access to it
-
3 Antwortenlearn to use all available tactics or get out of the PINNACLE event where the opponent is.

1 AntwortenI agree Remove trials from the game

2 AntwortenWanna know what I do? 1. Throw a grenade and push 2. Simply flank around 3 slide to the wall beside me slowly moving closer 4. Throw a grenade while sliding to the nearest wall at the same time. 5. Slide an spray at them they immediately start panicking.. 6. Throw a grenade behind them, slide an spray them at the same time. He either moves forward taking your bullets or falls back an gets hit by the grenade either way he’s taking damage..

19 AntwortenIt’s something all players can do so it isn’t an unfair advantage. Learn how to counter it.
-
7 AntwortenIts the only counter i can think of to 3 losers hardscoping with revoker.
-
4 AntwortenActually hilarious that people still somehow defend 3peeking. Especially with the boomer mentality of "its always been this way". Easy solution for the "but muh guardian's personality and emotes": You can emote once all opponents are eliminated in a round. Done, all audiences satisfied.
-
5 AntwortenI agree. Disable emotes during a round, and make sword hilts not put you in 3rd person in pvp
-
1 AntwortenThe solution is extremely simple, idk why bungie hasnt done it yet. 1. Swords with no ammo either cant be equipped OR become first person 2. Emoting is restricted in pvp until the round/game is won (3-8 seconds to emote) OR all emotes become first person
-
5 AntwortenThe people who say "I just use it to counter snipers." are the same people who start 3rd person peeking once they lose a Trials round to a team that isn't even sniping. 3rd person peeking is risk-free info. If they took the risks and lost a round, they're going to just not take those risks anymore. Just how people are once they lose where winning matters. Acts that were considered "scummy" or "unnecessary" in the previous round are now considered acts of desperation. Worst part is a team 3rd person peeking well can lock down half the map. They'll see grenades. They'll see all the flank routes. They'll see flanks and push with numbers. They'll know when your gun is down or you're disengaging. They'll know exactly when to commit without any risk. And unfortunately, the best counter to that is to just peek back and put on 100 intellect. It isn't uncountable. It's just that the best counter is to not fight at all. Kinda defeats the point of a 1st person shooter. Makes matches boring.

4 AntwortenI think it's fine. Let them emote.

People not wanting to do things is what slows things down, using third person is just the mechanism to enhance that. Similarly, no one wanted to pick fights without their team in Y1, so games slowed way the hell down because a fight is ultimately a numbers game. Now it'd slow a game down because no one wants to lose their head, being an early pick, and screwing over their team when the 2 gets outnumbered by the 3. Snipers are very difficult to challenge, especially when one's in the right hands. This has been a constant for Destiny, if it was such a problem, people would have said something 5 years ago. I'd put this as a meta obsession symptom that Trials has given Destiny. When the very best thing you can do is NOT DIE, people are going to do their damn best to prevent the possibility. This leads to lots of sniping and sentry-like watching of corners because no amount of risk is worth having and any easy kill is worth taking. Thanks to Revoker, you might as well always take the shot, as missing the head isn't a problem. Not wanting to get sniped, people stop and emote to peek safely. Hardlight's hate train is also a part of this, 0 falloff, bounce shots with bonus damage, and bright ass tracers. Even if you can't accurately hit people with the bounces, it's intimidating as hell to see a bunch of lasers flying around you. Pair this with Revoker and you basically give no one any incentive to confront you. So people don't. No one confronts anyone, and matches take longer. So yeah, this is ultimately a consequence of the playerbase's playstyle "choices", and their excessive similarities. Congratulations. You can't do anything about 3-peeking that doesn't upset everyone else who can easily care less. It's unrealistic to think emotes can simply be adjusted solely for Trials, let alone PvP in general, and the same goes for empty swords. What are you going to do? Emote cooldown? Then rapid emotes people do for fun and interaction with each other is dead. You'd be calling an emote an actual ability by that point and that sounds ridiculous. Emote lock? No fun in doing it near danger and then bouncing. Getting stuck over one that takes too longer and getting killed because of it. Just unpleasant control overall. First person/fixed camera? Not sure everything can be right over our shoulder like the Selfie. Disable empty swords? Then all the fun that had is out, ease of use in Parkour is out. You can't just make these things happen in one mode for something that probably doesn't even have something to separate. They'd be adding all sorts of extra parameters to how these things function and make Bug city if QA has taught us anything about themselves. Want to deal with it yourself? I suggest Wish Ender and exploiting line of sight. Can easily track an entire team from most places on most maps.

2 AntwortenJust remove the Goddamn pvp already there simply is no end to you people's -blam!-.
-
Only able to pull out the sword if you have ammo. Disable emotes.
-
Peeking 👍
-
5 AntwortenThis has always been a part of trials. No clue why it’s such a huge issue now.
-
6 AntwortenOf all the issues in PvP and this is the one thing that annoys you the most?
-
2 Antworten3 peaking is the only way to deal with hard scopers. Trials is just a sit and hard scope a lane. Shit is boring
-
2 AntwortenI love how ppl cry about this. Especially popular youtubers who have been doing this since forever, but now decided it's not cool that others do it 🤣
-
19 AntwortenYa becuase no one peeks corners not even the army with mirrors o wait they do becuase it’s smart .USE ALL TOOLS GIVEN TO U AND GET GOOD SCRUB
-
4 AntwortenNo emotes in trials and swords can be pulled out with ammo only. Slow and boring games with no cost to anything that could lead to a punishment for peeking. For example you can still 3peek with any of the class abilities just at the cost of the ability. (Might be broken on hunter due to fast dodge cooldown) Either way I'm more concerned with them fixing the rampant hacking over this.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von zJDz: 6/5/2020 9:30:29 PMWhat could they even do? Prevent you from equipping a sword? Prevent you from doing emotes? (Definitely not because then they wouldn’t sell any eververse emotes). Nothing is going to change man. Just adapt. Grenades flush players out of hiding spots. Grenades and grenade launchers.
