It really isnt hard. I thought about this for 5 minutes, and this original idea and mine.
If Bungie could implement a seasonal system that has a static power level, and as you level them up during the season toward the new power cap, they'll "burn out" and have a permanently less power level than when the season started, so next season you can level up toward the power cap, but it will always have that -10 points, while in the new season you can grind for a brand new version of your same weapon that has a +0, and use it instead of your old -10 weapon!
Bungie could do this indefinitely, and keep the game fresh without any effort of their own while they move on to other projects. This is a way better idea than "Sunsetting"!
There is no real reason for power levels to change actual numbers, all that is largely visual.
Once you've obtained a weapon from a quest, such as mountaintop. That weapon will be put into the engram of that respective activity, to be earned again as a very rare drop.
This both respects the time, allows aspiration, excitement about RNG and the pursuit of loot!
I'm literally a genius!
Don't feel sad or insecure. My IQ is one of the highest, it isn't your fault.

Power level has nothing to do with it. WTF are you talking about? Power level is just being used to lock weapons out of power enabled content. Got nothing to do with "having too high power" or whatever nonsense idea youve said. The problem is loot, and not having anything to grind for, because "x weapon exists". Just putting that weapon back in, just means everyone grinds for that anyway. Why would that be better? Regrind every weapon every season? Just do new ones, and let the old ones go to rest.
-
Wrong. Sunsetting is equally doing not enough for people who support it, and too much for people that don't, and if you look at what's going on and if you look at all the information coming out, and from what I understand that's only the beginning and you're going to see more in the coming TWAB's. With my plan, everything will be better for everyone because they would have everything, and be able to chase new versions of the same loot!
-
No, but i dont want the same loot. Thats the point. I cannot be -blam!-ing bothered, with another year of recluse mountaintop, or spare rations, cos its boring. "UEFS[E MAKE BETTER LOOT" isnt an excuse and doesnt work. I want NEW guns to chase after, and NEW metas, and NEW everything. Mountaintop can -blam!- off the moutain.
-
So then, just put limits on Pinnacle weapons? Why do regular weapons have to be sunset as well? Also, you will be getting the same loot. Bungie said that they'd recycle in the same loot as a "refresh" I guess. Kind of like how Y1 & Y2/Y3 had the same loot, but updates. Well it's the same thing now, but with a flip switch to limit power levels so you'll need to grind for them again.
-
Because Spare rations isnt. Mindbenders isnt. Duke isnt. Bygones isnt. Beloved isnt. Waking Vigil isnt. ect ect This is loot refresh, and even then, theyre being overly kind to keep them usable in PVP and core activities that arent power enabled. And yeah theyll reissue guns...SOME guns. Not all. Not Mountaintop. Just a select few. Same as now. Probably with different perks
-
Some guns? I'm pretty sure any the vendors give you from Engrams are automatically going to be a staple. This includes Nightfall specific weapons because you can go and re-earn them all over again. Weapons earned from quests will eventually be forgotten. Also, with different perks. I'm pretty sure they arent going to get rid of hip fire grip on snipers.
-
Theyre not gonna reissue every gun from year 2 and 3 You also DONT KNOW what theyre doing with nightfalls weapons. Or Black Armoury. Or Menargerie. Or even Last Wish. Every weapon from Gambit, Reckoning, Crucible and Vanguard is getting sunset... Do you not think, that maybe, just maybe, theres a reason for that? That theres a good way to both A. Add new weapons, and B. Revitalise older content, that people still like?
-
Then why would people buy old content, when it would be unusable for things like Nightfalls?
-
...Because theyll add new weapons to it? Which is what i said. So its both valuable for new and existing players
-
New weapons for people who already own that content? That doesn't seem like a good use of time, that just seems like ritualizing regular weapons which Bungie was barely able to do. I dont think we'll get any new weapons aside from the newest released content.
-
-blam!- off then, quit the game you -blam!-. Reaching for straws finding bullshit to complain about.
-
No need to get all emotional. I've quit the game a long time ago.
