"Theyre just sunsetting weapons due to lack of creativity and ingenuity".
Ok. Go ahead.
Give an example. Do what a company whos been making FPS game longer than some of you have been alive, apparently cant do. First of all, Exotics exist, so you can go hyper creative. Thats why the most creative stuff IS exotics, and why they wont get sunset.
What new perk? Does it invalidate another? What does it do? What avenue of FPS and RPG design have perks not taken advantage of, that fit into Destiny? What happens when its combined with another? What happens if that combination combines with another combination? What happens when its tied to another weapon, or armour perk? What happens when its tied to an exotic armour piece?
There are SO SO SO MANY factors, to designing a weapon. It is ridiculous, to even suggest that they dont know what theyre doing, or theyre being lazy. Youre dealing with factors potentially in the 1000s of individuals balance and mechanics, all that need testing. And yet people have the audacity to say "oh theyre lazy, bungie hates it player base".
All so what? Just so can use Spare Rations in 30% of the content for another 2-3 years? Is it THAT important? Are you that simple? Its a videogame gun. All you did was run into Reckoning, hit that Super, and the spam your gun for 10mins.
Oh man, so much effort.
You are aware...most games dont last beyond 20 hours right? Yet you have an issue with not being able to use a 4-5 guns in your inventory, after using them for NEARLY 2 YEARS. And STILL being able to use them anyway, in like 70% of the games content.
The "forum solution" and the current way the game is built, is just UNSUSTAINABLE.
Its too much.
Theres a lot of debate about entire planets being removed, to be replaced with new ones. Even from a hardware perspective, do you not realise theres LITERALLY hardware limitations? How much data is 800 -blam!-ing guns, all with mostly unique audio? Audio only, is such a huge taxing issue. They need to cut things out, before adding new things. Im shocked that weapons will even be usable still, meaning theyre still in the code. But they dont have to worry about balancing or testing them either, they can be forgotten.
Not to mention, the overall game design shifts that come from this. The games going from a long term investment, to a shorter term investment. Long term investment means long term grind.
Wanna take a guess what short term investment is?
"NO THEYLL STILL MAKE US GRIND"
What do you think Sundial is? That was short term grind. It had problems with FOMO, granted, but that FOMO is extending from 3 months time to get, to 12 months time to get an use. It wont be hard getting these new weapons, and itll be a more consistent loot game as a result.
Same with materials. You dont need a constant source of Ascendant Shards when you armour lasts forever. ???? What do you think happens instead?
This is the reason people LOVED Destiny 1. Constant, persistent rewards. Value in the time you commit, each day, rather than how many hours you spend shooting the same gun for a year.

I dont know enough to go into such detail but from all the posts I've seen, I wonder why people play this game? I see people using the same weapons constantly, then complain about not having new weapons etc? I myself come and go to this game and only play if I'm enjoying it. I've learned not to get attached to guns etc from playing Borderlands. I just dont understand what people want or why they are still here . Every time I come to these forums, after months, after a year it's the same.

10 Antworten"I don't understand so that means you can't understand either". Power-creep is a real problem. "Sunsetting" however is the nuclear option. Let's just remove everything and start over.

12 AntwortenIt really isnt hard. I thought about this for 5 minutes, and this original idea and mine. If Bungie could implement a seasonal system that has a static power level, and as you level them up during the season toward the new power cap, they'll "burn out" and have a permanently less power level than when the season started, so next season you can level up toward the power cap, but it will always have that -10 points, while in the new season you can grind for a brand new version of your same weapon that has a +0, and use it instead of your old -10 weapon! Bungie could do this indefinitely, and keep the game fresh without any effort of their own while they move on to other projects. This is a way better idea than "Sunsetting"! There is no real reason for power levels to change actual numbers, all that is largely visual. Once you've obtained a weapon from a quest, such as mountaintop. That weapon will be put into the engram of that respective activity, to be earned again as a very rare drop. This both respects the time, allows aspiration, excitement about RNG and the pursuit of loot! I'm literally a genius! Don't feel sad or insecure. My IQ is one of the highest, it isn't your fault.

10 Antworten
700 monkeys can eventually write Shakespeare
The monkey theorem was proven wrong. Something about entropy interfering eventually with production or something along those lines. Never really understood the 'why' exactly, just the gist of it.

1 AntwortenI’m pro sunsetting but I do have 2 pieces of feedback. 1 important and 1 personal. Imprantly: it seems like legendary endgrams will become less valuable as seasons process unless they’re tied to the season they’re dropped in. Not the weapons season of release. This will keep us from getting season 12 gear in an engram during season 15 Personally: I think it’s a good idea for them to give recluse and mountaintop the fatebringer/blackhammer treatment. Bring them back as exotics. This will quell some anger for those who specifically are upset and their lost playtime over pinnacles.

2 AntwortenHow long did it take you to write this? Its a genuine question. If you dont think so then don't answer but don't let it stop you. I really wanna know
