Why the 2 Primary Weapon System was great for Destiny 2 and why the community needlessly hated on Vanilla D2.

As the title implies, I will be talking about a delicate matter that will get me some hate. So I hope everyone has an open mind about this and be respectful to each other. As everyone knows, Destiny 2 released with a different weapon system than D1's. Having our Specials move down to the Heavy/Power slot and replacing the Special slot with Energy weapons (primary type ammo weapons with an element). Thus, resulting in our characters being weaker, I will not deny this, we had slower ability recharge rates, slower movement, one less weapon in our arsenal to dump heavy damage. So to compensate for this change, Bungie also made enemies weaker and added Class abilities to each Class: Warlock: - Healing Rift that could heal any allies and also added an overshield, basically the Healer, needed for activities that required standing in a plate or in a single point either for offensive or defensive purposes. - Empowering Rift that increased all weapon damage to all allies by 20%, this was the only self-buff to weapon damage in Vanilla D2 and thus was needed for basically any high level content. Titan: - Towering Barricade that blocked all damage very efficiently for a good amount of time, great for quick crutch defense in both PvE and PvP, it also blinded enemies that walked through it to establish more defense. - Rallying Barricade that instantly reloaded all weapons for all allies, greatly needed for boss damage phases and for a more offensive approach while still being defensive. Hunter: - Marksman's Dodge that instantly reloaded your currently equipped weapon while also providing a movement base ability that breaked tracking for PvE enemies and aim assistance for PvP players, great for clutch moments and for solo play. - Gambler's Dodge that fully recharged your Melee ability by dodging near an enemy, great for melee builds and staying on the offensive. Since Melee abilities took 1:20 seconds to recharge, this Dodge was great for solo play too. PSA: Hunters were the only Class to have a support Super in Vanilla D2, Shadowshot with Orpheus Rig made them a must have in every difficult activity. So it's clear that Bungie precisely thought of our weaker characters so they added an extra ability that would aid us in difficult content. Where do I want to get with all this? Well, Bungie really wanted to stick with the idea of us being weaker and they were all about balance. PvE actually required a real team composition for Raids, at least 1 or 2 Titan with Rallying Barricades, 1 or 2 Warlocks with Arc Soul Rifts and 1 Orpheus Rig Hunter and 1 Celestial Nighthawk Hunter. Majors could hardly be soloed in high level content thus requiring a team effort to take down. PvP was balanced at last, it's what everyone ever asked for, no Special ammo, no OHK abilities, yes there was teamshot but they designed PvP as a team shooter, that's why it was 4v4, that's why the TTK was slower. Supers weren't OP and could easily be shut down. Enemy health was balanced around us being weaker, you could kill a boss with only an Auto Rifle with not much effort but if you dumped your Power and Supers on him, it was way faster. In my time of playing Vanilla D2, I never felt like the 2 Primary Weapon System was boring, never. YouTubers and Streamers will always complain, just like the community. Destiny 2 was designed with the idea of balance and the idea of a more tactical and slower shooter and it delivered just that, but poeple complained and I don't know why. It wasn't boring, there's fun in slowness and methodism but people didn't find it. Now, to the rewards, this next part will be way simpler and quick. People complained that the endgame had no rewards, but they were wrong, blinded. Raid Weapons were the only ones that dropped with 2 Main Perks. If you wanted the best Kinetic Hand Cannon for PvE, you had to run Levi. If you wanted the best ever Rocker Launcher in the history of Destiny, you had to run Levi. If you wanted the best Kinetic Auto Rifle for DPS you had to run Levi. If you wanted the best Energy Pulse Rifle for both PvE and PvP, you had to run Levi. If you wanted the best looking armor in Vanilla D2, you had to run Prestige Leviathan. If you wanted the ornament for the hardest Exotic to get in Vanilla D2, you had to run Levi. Trials of the Nine weapons also rolled with 2 Main Perks and going flawless rewarded you with a whole other armor set that glowed with more intensity and also had ornament later on in CoO. Purpose was a great Scout for both PvE and PvP. Judgement was a great Hand Cannon for PvP. A Sudden Death was a great PvP shotgun. Darkest Before was the best PvP Pulse Rifle for a while. And now? Now doing Raids no longer rewards the best weapons nor the best looking armor. Trials doesn't have Flawless rewards and all weapons are bad except for the Shotgun. It's clear to me that Vanilla D2's endgame activities DID reward better loot than other activities like Strikes or normal Crucible and people still hated it. It's clear to me that the 2 Primary Weapon System fixed problems that people complained about in D1, it made PvP balanced and fun with a higher skill-ceiling because it was all primary. It made Class composition matter in PvE and it made PvE harder by not having a Special at all times to kill everything quickly. Destiny 2's PvE enemies are still balanced around the 2 Primary Weapon System, that's why the only difficult activity left in the game is the Master Nightfall and that's because we're underleveled. Raids are now more mechanics than combat because that's the only way they can make a Raid harder. Bungie knows this, Bungie had a strict vision of what they wanted D2 to be and they fixed some mayor complaints that people had in D1 and people still complained. I hoped I made sense with this post, it's a huge matter and I can't write everything down here or give more elaborate details and examples so this will do for now. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
