Hard to have honest competition with a power fantasy shooter. That should be obvious.
That’s the issue pvp has faced since Day 1 and the pvp competitive community hasn’t wrapped their heads around it yet it seems.
You give players space magic, synergies and loot to chase and you expect...some gentleman’s agreement?
Are you just intentionally ignoring that Destiny, by it’s nature, cant be balanced and fair? So why would players handicap themselves?
You want competitive pvp, go find a game that can deliver it.
Get over it. If you guys did Bungie wouldn’t nerf shit into the ground and ruin pve.

If the playerbase wants to have a power fantasy game, then something remotely like Trials should have never been asked for for over a year, and Competitive should have been in the bin after Year 1. You can't have both and have them both not be terrible. My time in this community has shown that the PvP community is at best indecisive and at worst borderline schizophrenic on what Destiny's Crucible should be like. Me, I just want to have fun. There is fun in competition, and there is also fun in a power fantasy. You can't have both. This franchise is a perfect example. So no, I'm not going to get over it. I would much rather have the PvP make up it's mind on what it wants to be. Only then will I shut up.

Well the game is a power fantasy game, regardless of whatever we want. That can’t and won’t change. You’d have to remake the entire game to make it not so. So if people don’t want power fantasy pvp, they shouldn’t be playing Crucible. Period. It can’t and won’t ever be a fair comp pvp. You can have the Comp playlist regardless. It’s on the players to understand that Destinys flavor of comp isn’t the same as your typical MLG standard. It’s on the players to get the best gear and learn how to stomp. I don’t put it squarely on just the pvpers. Bungie has never really admitted to the limitations of pvp balance and comp style. I think a good dose of reality in a TWAB would help start steering the pvp community in the right direction. Even if it does cost a few players leaving. Instead Bungie dicks around and wind up nerfing more anything else to try and keep pvp balanced. Thus making the pve side suffer. If I were you, I would get over it. Because the source of the issues isn’t the pvp community, it’s Bungie sticking their head in the sand.

Again, you can't have both in a game designed like this. These two types of shooter require vastly different approaches, primarily with risks. Power fantasy games have next to no risks when you lose, usually having a match-to-match basis. Death comes easily, with everything usually killing in under a second. You usually just want to win for bragging rights. Most use dedicated servers and primarily CBMM. Competitive games are about maintaining victory, but are also a match-to-match basis. You have nothing to focus on besides helping you and your team achieve victory. Weapons either take multiple seconds to kill, or weapons kill very quickly, but they don't flip-flop. Most use dedicated servers and primarily use SBMM. (There are some exceptions, like the Halo games, which use peer-to-peer, but give you the option of CBMM or SBMM.) ______________ Destiny takes those traits and some of its own and mixes them, and they mix about as well as peanut butter and Vegemite. You have weapons that mix from a 2.0 TTK to 0. You have to not focus on winning one match, but to win the next 5-7-9 matches to actually have the time invested matter. Bounties and quests have teammates fighting for themselves and not for their team. The game uses peer-to-peer but doesn't give you a choice but SBMM, which is flawed by design. _____________ Your ideas of how the PvP should be played only creates a toxic, predatory environment which has already once brought the game to a downwards spiral of declining numbers back in Year 2, and I never want to see it again. Saying that Bungie are the only ones that have to do something (which they should) shows that you think the playerbase are above consequences. I have to disagree on that. Like I've said before, I've almost seen the PvP community nearly kill the PvP aspect of the game, which was fortunately stopped by Bungie. But now, the PvP needs to make up their mind on what direction they are going. Like you, I think it should be power fantasy, but the PvP, both developer and playerbase, need to commit to it, with attitude and design. ____________ Like I already said, I'm not going to get over it. I literally can't afford to care less about this game.

I love comp. I got to 5,500 playing solo with Ringing Nail and Mountaintop. That proves you and the lot are full of excuses.

Well done, Guardian. I also love my Ringing Nail. Can I ask what your roll on it is?

? I don’t complain about pvp. Calling it unbalanced isn’t a complaint. I like it like that way. It’s more fun.

Bungie hasn’t nerfed anything because of pvp for an extremely long time. I can only recall 2 guns getting nerfed in the entirety of d2 because of pvp related issues, and that’s the lunas howl/ not forgotten and the sleeper stimulant (nerfed because of gambit, not necessarily pvp). Maybe I’m mistaken, maybe there is more that I’m just not remembering, but we shouldn’t falsely blame the pvp community for nerfs that aren’t their fault.
