That definitely sounds off. I've had some pretty bad "selective RNG", as you put it, but never that many of the same item slot in a row. As far as I'm aware, there shouldn't be any kind of lock on the armor drops for the season to a New Light player(pretty sure it's just the ornaments that are exclusive to paid players). He may want to try holding any further donations till after reset to see if that kind of "corrects" things for him. It may also not be a bad idea to try clearing his cache.

If this is working as intended then where is the communication? If this is a bug then it has gone on long enough into the season for it to be fixed. New Light players are not always the most vocal nor are they easily communicated at. He does not follow any youtubers or content creators that would have specific New Light information, he's got me and I only see what all the vets see. It's a shame either way. He's having a blast; besides the boss stomp mechanics and enemies sprinting away backwards faster than he can sprint at them (he loves melee and swords lol) this is the biggest issue hes had and frankly an introduction for him to bugs/issues with this game in it's new seasonal form.

I don't know that this is a bug. I'd say it is more than likely a cache issue. While there are many complaints about how terrible the RNG can be at times and I have been subject to it myself, this just strikes me as a one off. I also don't follow any content creators or Youtubers. Don't believe in it, as it has become a paid thing, rather than something that fans of a game used to do for fun, but that's a whole different discussion. My only other window into the Destiny world is right here on the forums, as I also refuse to create a Twitter account. I can't speak to the New Light experience myself, but again, I don't think this is an intended thing and is most likely just a bit of a hiccup. I can feel the pain of the stomp mechanics though. One of the reasons I just don't pull out my sword as much.
