% I've recently been seeing many posts about how Cayde can or should be resurrected. While I agree he did bring some light into the universe of Destiny, Cayde needed to die. Bringing him back will completely f up the story and everyone's character development. Itll be D2 vanilla all over again. Let it go. But why is his death necessary exactly?
For starters, Cayde was always known as the jokester of the Destiny universe. The class clown. Whenever someone was in a bad mood Cayde would show up and spout his usual banter and wisecracks and inevitably make everyone's day better. There was literally no one else who could so that on such a level. Even if they didnt show it, people seemed to appreciate Cayde's light heartedness and clumsy demeanor, Ikora being an example. Outside of trying to keep himself from plunging deeper into a state of depression, his personality also saved many other people from that same fate.
Now, with Cayde dead, that beacon of light isn't there anymore. What does this mean to the characters of the Destiny universe? It means that now, they have to find happiness and hope by themselves, something that Cayde always provided them easily by just being within their vicinity. It means that everyone has to find their own way to move forward and keep themselves from plunging into darkness.
This helps boost everyone's character development ten fold, as now they dont have anyone to rely on that could give them that same satisfaction that Cayde did. Sure the Guardians gives them hope by performing all these "impossible" feats left and right like it's a daily chore, but hope alone isn't gonna be enough to keep someone from becoming as disconnected from human emotions as say Eris, who seems to have been struggling to reconnect for the past 6-7 years after her reemergence.
Cayde needs to stay dead. Itll basically make everyone have to challenge themselves to stay afloat and not tip over, therefore testing their own mental stability, and in turn, boosting their mental fortitude without the help of others.

Cayde-7. Just sayin’.

To bring him back alive would be a dis service to his character and the DLC we paid for to get revenge. Seriously people looking for any reason just to bring him back .. Just stop and accept it please.

Bearbeitet von Emurinus: 1/13/2020 2:45:42 AMI hope Zavala gets some more development soon. He had a bit during the Red War campaign then they butchered him during Warmind. He got a bit more in Forsaken because of Cayde's death, even if it wasn't what we wanted, but they never expanded upon this even in Shadowkeep.

1. Kill off important character 2. Quick and Easy Drama 3. Lazy Writing Star Trek, Star Wars and Walking Dead live by this crap.

<I'd say give him one more thing. Not a resurrection, but a conclusion to his story and the Exo project he was a part of. Send us to the Deep Stone Crypt, uncover messages from him and his past iterations, expose Clovis Bray for the -blam!-s they were, and end this.>

Bearbeitet von SkellRino: 1/13/2020 8:17:03 AMBungie should have taken the time developing Cayde 6 and put it in all the characters once Cayde was killed. The problem with Cayde's death was more so an eye opener as to how shallow and soulless the rest of the crew at the tower really is Edit: also, I like lamp

Kiling Cayde was the only way to make Destiny's story become mature.

Disasgree. Cayde brought a bit of fun to the mix that the game is missing right now. Also, your assesment that characters need to develop more with him gone is simply wrong and the proof is in the game with the complete lack of development of the staple characters. Every single thing that's happened in the game since Cayde died could still have happened with Cayde there and at least there'd have been some funny lines along the way.
-
cayde's death was the foreshadowing of how destiny would be going forth. Cayde represented fun, and jokes. Bungie are now a no fun allowed company. They couldn't have that.

Giving Cayde the bullet was a good move. He was turned into a clown with a funny chicken. Basically Mercy.

I don't think Kayde is really dead, he is probably just hiding out like Utrim was.
-
What story?
-
Cayde’s death COULDVE helped the story... But none of the characters have really developed much. A few lore cards do refer to how they miss him but imo not enough.
-
Confusing character assassination for a character's actual character. Here's a thought: he was also, being a hunter, one of the only characters who did anything. Because Bungie wrote themselves into a corner with character behaviors. Ikora doesn't do anything. Zavala doesn't do anything. Saint-14 isn't going to do anything. Osiris, Eris & YOUR character are the only three characters who do anything after Cayde died.
-
Cayde's death has barely effected the story. They don't develop characters or follow through with plot lines. The tower vendors still talk about the Red War like it happened yesterday. For a "living game and evolving world" it's very stagnant.

It helps marketing.

no they F uped when they brought uldrin back

Bungie seems to be systematically killing off characters voiced by high profile actors and replacing them with Nolan North. The voice cast was one of the selling points of original Destiny but apparently it became a liability in the long run. They sure haven't talked about well-known actors in the voice cast lately, have they? Maybe the end goal is Nolan doing all the voices?

I just wish they would give the mf a statue or something to remember him by. And why the -blam!- is Colonel still by Caydes old station when he literally gave him to Hawthorne to watch over? I mean hell, even the tower is still in smoke despite literally going back there to get outbreak perfected, and I didn’t even mention the city still being under construction ( despite an entire raid taking place down there last year). Details like that which remain unchanged really kill the immersion for me. It’s nice having updated dialogue but the fact that the Tower itself hasn’t really changed outside of Holiday updates really boggles my mind🤦🏽♂️.

They killed him off so they wouldnt have to pay Nathan Filion.

I just want the god damn tower PA announcements back

Cayde died?

I just wish it was Fenchurch who killed him, then me and the Sweeperbot could have hunted him down. Killed the sorry sack of poop and left his head on Tess’ counter top. Maybe that way she’d shut up about him.
