Demand too much of their pie and they're likely to simply move the whole damn pie to a different country. Then you get none of it.

Yeah, just for the hypothetical scenario, you couldn't get enough money, so just raising taxes on the 1% to a "reasonable" rate is not enough to pay this thing off. I might be ok with this much spending if I knew we could pay it off. But the way I see it, it's 20 trillion more than our debt, so if we could pay of this, why haven't we already paid off our debt
