You can keep any armor you so desire.
The reason the dismantling is recommended for Eververse items is because Eververse armor currently dismantles into Bright Dust.
After the Eververse update happens that changes that system, Eververse items will dismantle into shards and glimmer.
As Bright Dust is one of the rarer in-game currencies, it's recommended to get rid of any Eververse items that you don't wish to specifically keep. The armor, specifically, will be usable as ornaments to change the look of armor, so as such, isn't required to be kept if you just want their looks.
Dismantling non-Eververse armor gains no benefits or penalties and has no changes with the system as it's always dismantled for shards and components.
Before update tomorrow
Hold up. The change doesn’t come into effect until the 1st right?

I'm pretty sure that's correct, but the OP asked the question that is directly related with the Armor 2.0 update, so I did my best to answer the question they seemed to be asking, as their question doesn't make any sense to me otherwise. Hopefully, the OP will get back to us and let me know if my answer doesn't fit what they actually wanted to ask.

Ya you helped me. Thank you.

Glad to help, then!

Ditto. OP had me worried there when he/she specified ‘update tomorrow’ - I’m guessing that was just based on Shadowkeep’s orig release date.
