So, ive got the lucky side of a bad coin where i can hear, but cant physically speak. An i know there are deaf players, as well as those that would rather not use a mic for a list of understandable reasons.
Is there any way we can get an option to put a small waypoint within in the players view, using the hipfire reticle as the targeting mechanic? It doesn't have to be as in depth as apex (and please make it smaller than what siege used at one point)
as far as PVP goes, this would be really helpful. Even for the speaking players because they can make a simpler call out added with "on my tag"
PVE it wouldn't really serve a purpose outside of saving people setup time for raids when showing new runners where to stand.

Why cant you speak? Not trying to be negative, i'm just curious.

For many years I played with someone who had the same problem, over that time I started thinking about how useful it would be to have keyboard compatibility on consoles. I'm not talking about full M&K support, just the ability to quickly use a keyboard to write what is necessary in game chat. Maybe an optional text to speech feature would be useful too.

This reminds me of the old Metal Gear Online (not the new one). Except alot players spammed it like a troll.

Would benefit all if a ping system was introduced. However, it’d be horrific if it could be spammed as a troll

As I regularly communicate with people having talking/hearing issues, I can't agree more. There is a game, ArmA. Yes, it is on PC, but some UI elements from it may be used with gamepad. Basically it is "wheel of commands". In ArmA they are given via numeric and function keys (F#, say, F7-5-5, that could mean "unit assigned to F5 key, send your status report"). This could be used to command very large unit formations (I tried company sized, about 120 men). Of course this is not RTS "rubber band magic", but given everything happens in first person view - fairly easy to use. Select units you want, give them command, and they'll follow. Sometimes to a degree of older Rainbow Six games, where I spent hours in planning mode only to watch how my AI subordinates complete the mission flawlessly on their own. :) As I understand, console gamepads support dual buttons pressed, so if some sort of "communication menu" could be assigned to it, all basic commands could be used there just fine. PLUS! There is multiplatform title, Star Wars (hold your horses!) Republic Commando. That, by my opinion, is not only one of the best SW titles ever, it has reasonably smart team-mates. Yes, every position for them was hard coded, but simplicity of use is exemplary. Any given command should have relevant text at player who gave it, so if someone gives "Follow me" command, recipient player should see that just for ease of use. Same with attack commands - "Watch this direction" or "attack minor/major/boss/that thing". So instead of emotes (or with them), some more branching command/communication tree shouldn't be that hard to implement. After all, we need few movement and attack commands. No matter what kind of rust bucket this engine is, these features shouldn't be that hard to implement.

they should definitely add this to the game it would help a lot in explaining raids to new players.
-
There should at least be a fireteam chat on console. So if you have the keypad or a USB keyboard hooked up you can type something and it will show on everyone's screen in the bottom.

I play with a mute lady sometimes. And she is a destiny god. She uses a beeper method and types out in discord what her beeps will mean when playing.
-
Pinging system or enemy tagging would be a nice addition. They actually have tagging methods, but only for perks or exotic gear.

Bearbeitet von Subzero_My_Hero: 8/22/2019 7:19:12 PMI always felt they should add some basic emotes to the wheel, like "over here", or "help!" or "Got It!" We had a clan mate (and very good player) that was really in tight finances that couldn't afford a new mic, and for the longest time we had to improvise communications. He could hear us, but couldn't really respond. His guardian could nod up and down or side to side to say YES/NO, but that didn't help at distance. Basically we came up with meanings for some of the emotes. Sit meant help, point meant over here, ect... Take my upvote, I'm with you here, and it would be pretty easy imo to account for this situation.

I suffer from really bad social anxiety to the point where It causes a mental choosing to not use my voice around other people id love if something like this was added

Bearbeitet von xV_GLORY_Vx: 8/23/2019 9:03:22 PM@subzero Mics are too inexpensive to buy to implement these features. $25 can buy a pretty nice mic these days. I guarantee you can find a mic for <$5 even with minimum wage you can afford that. If you are wasting money on pot alcohol or cigarettes use that money towards a mic.

I think this is an excellent idea & people with disabilities paid for this game too (and others of course)

Encounter design is super flawed for mute and deaf people, or just for people that don't want to talk or can't talk at night.

Out of sheer curiosity (no offense) but this game is the only one I’ve seen where people have hearing/speech issues. Is this a coincidence? To OP’s point, I agree it would be helpful

Finally beat full Levi raid yesterday for first time when I moved to PC everyone use in game text Thank you for cross save

More accessibility is a good thing and ALL devs should consider this. Just had to state that since threads like this will draw in the overly negative at times. Kinda over that shit.
-
Waypoints and a Text chat that can be toggled on or off. Rework emotes so their like ESO that way we can use those other three directions as Hotkeys.
-
On PC , you can memorize the names of parts of the map, shown at the top left of the screen, and if you are a decent typer, can easily type a quick call in a second or 2.
-
Surely it’s more helpful to say 3 at (insert location a tag is to vague as doesn’t tell team member any thing useful over Yh can be helpful but waypoints are normally placed anyway and when their not there getting your ghost out for a second normally pings where you need to go

I really think it's a good idea to have more support for deaf players and players who are unable to talk. Not only for PvP but also for PvE like raids. Almost all raids are also based on call outs. It would be nicer if it was more visible on what action you should do. I heard of a deaf team completing all these raids by doing emotes but there must be better ways. It all starts with a good design. Or maybe make the direction buttons optional call out buttons when playing PvP or Raids. For example in Leviathan you had four symbols. Dog, Cup, Sun and Axes. For Leviathan for example Dog would be up, Cup would be right, etc.. and all players would see it on the screen. For example "<playername>: says Dog" And make these call out maybe even encounter specific and available at the moment you can do these call outs. Put it in a time window. Outside this time window the button is an emote again.
