I have already said something like this last week, but I will repeat this again;
You own the words that you say, write, type. Make sure that they are ones you are willing to pay a price for if they are crossing the line, even if "it was just a joke".
Words carry weight. It doesn't matter if you mean what you say or not, just don't say anything that you're not willing to be taken to task for.

I doubt he will actually be convicted of anything. Chances are he will sue for wrongful imprisonment

I'm cool with this, but I'm worried this will be more fuel for the new Anti Videogames movement.

Red flag

Well the kid is a dick ofcourse, but a felony is a lesser criminal offense correct? Well if that is the case you are giving kids criminal records and possibly ruining their future for a distastefull joke. Why not just give the kid a fine and 400 hours community service instead, that would be punishment enough I think.

And it was reported to the fbi and they did nothing. And many people, myself included, criticize them for not taking it seriously. For all we know it was only "just a joke" because he actually got busted for it. Sure, maybe hes just an immature dumbass teenager incapable of thinking properly but still. I'm glad he got busted and I hope this trend of edgy teenagers saying stupid shit because its "edgy" and "ironic" gets curbstomped.

Given all of the threats of mass shootings nowadays, I'm glad that law enforcement is taking things like this seriously. There was also a mass shooting threat in this area on Monday which led to the closing of Walmart for the entire day and night. The police caught the person who made the threat, also a teenager who made it. To the teenagers who make these threats, or are thinking of making these threats as a joke or to try and get some popularity points: It isn't funny, and you're not going to be popular. The amount of effort that people put into making threats for mass shootings could easily be put into something much more constructive. Take the malice out of the effort, and put that effort into something like volunteering in the community, or volunteering with a local organization - It'll benefit not only just your community, but it'll make you look so much better on paper and in reputation. Hopefully 2020 will be a better year, one that has more people helping their community rather than shooting it up.

Does this mean that I have to throw away my N word pass?

Bearbeitet von RollTide2235: 8/21/2019 10:23:10 PMI just watched some of the video. When the police told him to turn around, getting ready to arrest him, momma was there beside him and instantly started crying saying “he’s just a little boy” followed by other comments. Makes you wonder how in touch with reality momma is.

Bearbeitet von Catty_Wampus22: 8/22/2019 3:54:15 AMI shared this on Facebook the other day along with the comment "good, it's about time kids/teens learn there are consequences of their actions" I'm glad they're finally starting to pay attention. I also read a bunch of others got picked up for talking/posting about commiting mass shootings.

Yeah, it's good looking out for troubled kids. The bad side, is that any internet we chose to use, and it has always been the case, there are about 10% users, 90% stalkers either trying to bust people, or worst. It's the risk we all take sharing on the web. I try to be mindful that the audiences that I'm trying to talk to is rarely who is actually reading. That doesn't mean I'm about to be a fake person, but understanding social media certainly changes how you use it. We don't have to be paranoid though, the other part of that is, humans are generally incredibly selfish and don't care about much but themselves or "important people" ie sycophantism. Just do you, have fun, vent, rage, etc. Good folks have nothing to worry about and nothing to prove.

Good, it's about time we started getting on people for threats of violence

In Florida no less!? Wow

He's just a child!! He wouldn't do this kind of thing!! Shut up lady. He's 17. Stop whining and think for a second. If this was 20 years ago, I would say the cops are overreacting. But with all the news recently It's good that they are doing this.

Honestly, w all the mass shootings going on, and considering it hasn't been that long since incident at Parkland High in FL, what did he think would happen by making a specific threat like this. His statement implied that he had the means to carry put threat and specific amount of targets in mind. Of course he will claim he was joking after being arrested, but what if he wasn't and police had done nothing despite knowing of threat. That's the hard part for law enforcement in these situations. If they don't take a threat seriously, and something happens, they get blamed. However, when they do take a threat seriously, they also get blamed for overreacting. It's really a no win situation.
