So I was testing auto rifle range...

I came across something kind of weird when I was testing the range on auto rifles. Now what I'm about to tell you may be due to an error, but I was using darci to get the relative numbers I'm about to show you for the distance and I used the Destiny app for the stats. Keep this very much so in mind, I tested their maximum range UNTIL fall off was applied, so each of these distance numbers you will see will be just before they start having damage fall off: Scathelocke: 63 range, 34.6 meters, long zoom scope. Scathelocke: 66 range, 33.5 meters, medium zoom scope. Ether doctor: 66 range, 36 meters, medium zoom scope. Ether doctor: 67 range, 38 meters, long zoom scope. Hazard of the cast: 86 range, 30.8 meters. Hazard of the cast w/full bore: 90 range 31.4 meters Breakneck: 77 range, 29 meters Valakadyn: 49 range w/range finder, 26.1 meters. Valakadyn: 49 range w/out range finder, 24 meters. Loquitor: 85 range, 33.5 meters, short zoom scope. Loquitor: 95 range, 48 meters, long zoom scope. Loquitor: 92 range, 40.9 meters, medium zoom scope. Halfdan-d: 96 range, 38 meters, medium zoom scope. Halfdan-d: 88 range, 31 meters, short zoom scope. Now after looking at this heaping mess of numbers something seems kind of...off doesn't It? Look at the loquitor's range and the halfdan's distance at which they can shoot at.
Loquitor: 85 range, 33.5 meters, short zoom scope. Loquitor: 95 range, 48 meters, long zoom scope. Loquitor: 92 range, 40.9 meters, medium zoom scope. Halfdan-d: 96 range, 38 meters, medium zoom scope. Halfdan-d: 88 range, 31 meters, short zoom scope.
What this tells me, at least from this single stat, is that the range doesn't matter as much as the scope does. "But DuB, that doesn't make any sense, you must've made a mistake." And I agree, that's very well possible, but as I kept testing my autos...something cemented this just a little bit more for me. I used both scathelocke and ether doctor in a test. Here's a quote of the results:
Scathelocke: 63 range, 34.6 meters, long zoom scope. Scathelocke: 66 range, 33.5 meters, medium zoom scope. Ether doctor: 66 range, 36 meters, medium zoom scope. Ether doctor: 67 range, 38 meters, long zoom scope.
So whatever happened here I can't really tell you. When I used scathelocke and it had more range with the medium zoom scope, according to the stats, than the long zoom, the long zoom still ended up having a larger distance it could shoot without damage fall off. To think that the scope increased the range, despite the stat being lower or different, determines the effective range at which it can fire with fall off is actually weird. If you are wondering how I tested this, I used the menagerie tribute enemies and darci to gauge my distance. I'm going to let you know this so that someone who has a more proper means of testing this can do so, but I couldn't do this in parallel with the target I used, so I had to make a slant or diagonal. I will post a quick clip to show I'm not bull shitting you guys once it uploads to Xbox dvr. It's really weird.
