♤ Icarus Bloodstone - Troubleshooter: Page 11 - A Strangers Call

"Gaahhh!!" Icarus Bloodstone throws himself out of his bed and catches himself on the floor, panting heavily, gasping for air. Shadow, who was flying the ship, turns sharply to see him. "Take it," she says to Proxy as she gets up to assist. Proxy happily grabs the wheel to pilot. "Easy, easy, relax. Are you okay?" She puts a hand on his back. Icarus stutters, "She- She's here!" He tries to stand, grabbing the wall for support, shuffling across the ship to the cabin. He grabs the wheel from Proxy and enters coordinates into its drive. "Woah, slow down for a second-" Shadow looks worried. "There's no time!!" He snaps. "ICARUS!" She yells at him. He stops and turns around with a scowl of determination. She relaxes her shoulders but talks in the same tone. "You've been unconscious for two whole days!! I couldn't take you to the tower because..." The ship begins to grown, gravity waves twisting its course. A flash of light and suddenly the reef is in full view once again. "... because that keeps happening." Icarus stands and places his hands on the glass in front of him. "No no no no NO!" He begins frantically running around the ship, back and forth until he goes into a side room and pulls out a heavily modified transmat beacon. "Hold on to something!" He says, almost not in his own voice, the panic surging through him as he slams it down in the center of the ship, right into a hole that was already there. Clearly, this isn't the first time he's slammed this through the floor. As he does, he pulls a cord out from the side of it and manages to fumble the other end into the dash of the cabin. He flips three switches and slams a button that appears to at one point have been behind a closed glass. "Come on!" He yells to himself. As he does, the ships lights sputter off. The ship drifts, totally powerless. Shadow looks around, "Ummm..." "Give it a second.. c'mon c'mon..." Nothing happens for a few seconds then suddenly a flicker of light appears above the beacon. "Yes!!" Icarus joyously jumps up. "It worked!' As soon as he says this, the whole ship distorts and is stretched through a strange wormhole of light. Only a few seconds pass before they are spit out near the old tower. A little too close actually. "Oh no. I may have forgotten about momentum..." Icarus quickly disconnects the wires and flips the switches back. The ship begins to power back up, but not quick enough. The rubble of the old tower is quickly approaching. Stonecraft butts in, "Too late! JUMP!" as he transmats Icarus out. Shadows ghost does the same as the ship slams into the courtyard, skidding across the debris into the staircase that leads to the old vanguard chambers. "Shit!" Shadow is wide-eyed, the amber glowing in panic. Icarus stands and dusts himself off. He looks around for a second, then back to the ship. "Proxy? PROXY!?" He begins to charge toward the wreckage in a full sprint, tripping up over rocks and rubble. He gets to the ship and slides through the fire through an opening in the side. Sparks and smoke fill his lungs as he pushes aside chunks of metal from every corner of what's left. "PROXY!!" His voice cracks, sweat drips and suddenly a blue spark lights up the burning yellow. Icarus heaves half an engine off the robotic corpse. "Proxy? Say something buddy!" He tries to pull him out, which is easier than he thought. Probably has something to do with the only being half of him there. The upper body of Proxy is badly bashed, but his legs and half an arm are nowhere to be found amongst the twisted metal of the ship. "Come on buddy c'mon!" Proxy turns his head with a great amount of struggle. "Daisy, daisy, give me your hand-" Icarus damn near slaps him right then and there. "You smug bastard!" He chuckles and a tear falls as he picks up his torso and carries him out, coughing a bit. Shadow stands on her tip toes. "It's he okay?" "Yeah, he's fine. Apparently found a sense of humor in the fire." He grins. "I am zzz- operational. No thanks to you." He points at Icarus with half an arm. Shadow sighs, "Well then, in that case, do you mind telling me what we're going to do now?" She gestures out to the mess of the Red War. "You know we aren't supposed to be here. It was quarantined after-" "I swear if I hear that word again..." he sets Proxy down next to what remains of a vault terminal. "... what the hell?" The terminal is attempting to transmat in a weapon, which should be impossible, since the tower and all its inventory was destroyed. It flickers and shows the the outline of a hand cannon. "Is that..?" Icarus quickly begins to futz with the scorched control panel. Shadow peers over his shoulder, "Whatcha doin'?" He doesn't respond except with a subtle hum. She gets bored quick. "Hey, well, i'mma go have a look around. Haven't been here since even before it fell, ha!" She remembers times in the wild and the prison as she makes her way toward the hanger. After about 5 minutes of pressing buttons that don't work, he's about to give up, until a voice pops into his mind. "You're different. The others slave on hand and knees for the Vanguard. But you are rogue. A unique element in the cosmic balance of things." "Who are you? Where are you?" "You've fought against creatures and gods that most would cower away from. Slayer of Oryx, Bringing of Light. But yet, there's something dark in you. Something even I don't understand. Something..." Icarus catches a glimpse of a shadow up on one of the remaining spires. He quickly throws a knife up in its direction, only to watch it vanish. "Show yourself!" He demands. "But of course." The voice is more distant, but real now. Physical. A figure walks out from where the Iron Banner once stood. A hood and the stock of a rifle can be seen in the shadow. "I've been watching you since you put a name to your chaos. Bloodstone." The figure steps into the light. An exo with a half cloak over her shoulder and a pulse rifle slung on her back. "You will find a great many things out in the darkness. But if you get lost in its embrace, I will not hesitate." She phases out into nothingness. Icarus is about to speak when he hears the sound of a transmat to his right. He looks to the vault and reaches in to find the completed hand cannon. A silver barrel gleams in the late daylight and the grip makes an audible creak of fresh genuine black leather. "Hawkmoon." He whispers to himself.
