Iron Burden: Good Concept, Bad In Practice.

So I hopped onto D2 today lookin to try some Iron Banner, one of the game modes I hate most due to the sweaty 6 stacks with luna/bought forgotten. But after a couple matches I was feeling pretty good, and wanted to try out the Iron Burden to work towards the Wizened Rebuke. After spending 5 tokens for a 30 minute debuff that drops my light 100 levels (literally 3 games worth of time), I noticed that while yes, it is now a challenging battle, but since I was still being matched against the 6 stacks with bought forgotten who DIDN'T use Iron Burden, they were just making short work of me. Kind of the point, I guess, but it still didn't exactly feel like a good time. The challenge doesn't come from making the game harder, it comes from trying to hold points when you can be 1.5 tapped by any weapon in the game, while your teammates are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Wizened Rebuke is also a decent Fusion Rifle in my eyes, but it's still not any better than an Erentil, and you have to work 500x harder to get the Wizened. Pros to Iron Burden: -challenge if you want it -not permanent if you don't like it -access to Wizened Rebuke after 500 kills Cons: -Nobody else is using the burden so you're at a full disadvantage -only lasts up to 3 games -progress towards bounties negated by how much harder it is to kill people -Wizened Rebuke isn't outstanding, with only Demolitionist to really seperate it from Erentil -costs tokens that you could instead spend on weapon/armor rolls Verdict: Iron Burden just doesn't feel like it has any reward for its risk. If you're not a great player, you'll expect to sit around the bottom of your team's score. If you are a great player, you gotta work harder for a challenge that pretty much just equates to pride and accomplishment. I don't mind a self imposed challenge just for the heck of it, but the quickplay/IB game modes really don't want people to cripple themselves, because there's always gonna be that group waiting to get those montage clips on the enemy team. Iron Burden feels more like you're actively griefing your team, than trying to challenge yourself as a player.
