I kinda feel like all that's needed to make ward of dawn something people want to use is have an exotic that allows your squad mates to shoot out through the bubble. It does mean you can just sit in the middle of an open field of fire and spam damage the boss with a rally barricade and an empowering rift while a hunter has a tether up but...it does mean you're surrendering your super's damage to use it for that purpose.... And an exotic slot...
