Ward of Dawn is a "classic" D1 Defender Titan (now Sentinel) super.
It was an extremely durable defensive bubble that, with customizable skill tree option, had a WIDE range of utility. It would include buffs like:
-Armor of Light, which makes you and allies WITHIN the bubble much harder to kill and saving you from being destroyed by enemies who are dangerous when too close
(It is now standard for the Ward of Dawn in Destiny 2)
-Blessing of Light allows yourself and allies to enter the bubble and then exit with a lingering overshield with around half the effectiveness of Armor of Light but enabling your allies to be better protected while dealing damage from outside the bubble.
(This is now only achievable by equipping the exotic helmet, "Helm of Saint-14")
-Weapons of Light grants bonus weapon damage after stepping in and out of the bubble, much like the Warlock Empowering Rift.
(This is now only applied when guarding with the Code of the Commander Banner Shield Super)
Ward of Dawn has since been down played in favor of the new offensive super Sentinel Shield with the launch of Destiny 2. So much so that it is merely an optional choice within it's own Subclass tree (tap key-bind for Sentinel Shield, hold for Ward of Dawn)
The Bubble fails to produce nearly as much orbs blocking incoming damage as blocking with the Shield does, maybe half.
It costs the same amount of energy to cast as the Shield.
Has very little more versatility than a Barricade, the Titan's fastest charging ability
Armor of Light is worthless when blasted out of the Bubble
Friendlies will find it more obstructing than helpful
Weapons of Light is practically worthless since attacking with the shield and setting off detonators is more impactful than a small damage buff.
Make us want to use it!
Careful what you wish for, bro. Bungie loves dictating what you use, to the detriment of other gear/abilities that people like. Making you want to use Ward of Dawn will mean destroying other space magic to do it. That's rule #1 of Bungie development.
-
2 Antwortencareful what you wish for. Bungie most likely to nerf other titan supers to the ground so you have no choice but to use bubble.

Make Ursa Furiosa work with Ward like Phoenix Protocol with Rift. Ursa problem and Ward problem solved

Ward in D2 is total turd.

1 AntwortenMan I really really miss running the bubble in D1. One of my favorite experiences was the first time my raid group beat the Templar Challenge in VoG. Me and one other bubble Titan just held down the right side while everyone else took care of the rest. I think that’s the most I’ve ever felt like a real guardian. “I am the wall against which the darkness breaks”

1 AntwortenI would play nothing but bubble Titan if the ward of dawn blocked boss stomps.

Titan main since the beginning. Titans used to be a necessity for any raid environment. That’s how good weapons of light was with bubble. I took pride being the only bubble on the team. Now titans are practically worthless in any PvE endgame activity. Melting point only does so much bonus damage and only lasts for 5-8 seconds. Bubble is completely worthless. Even in the crucible. I can not tell you how many times I have destroyed bubble titans on my hunter or warlock. Blade barrage not only kills the bubble but all combatants inside. Nova bomb does the same. 3 shot meleeing supers sounds good until you realize that nearly no one using those supers will be going in that bubble, and should you leave you are asking for death from any snipers watching you. Titans have no defined roll in PvE. Due purely to the fact that anything one can do a hunter or warlock can do infinitely better. Ad clearing? Hunters can do that with literally any super, including celestial nighthawk golden gun. Warlocks can also do that using skull of dire ahankara and nova or chaos reach, or storm trance, or dawnblade. Buffing team mates? Warlocks have that. Hell, warlocks can heal and empower. Reload weapons? Warlocks can also do that for twice as long as a Titan while buffing and empowering. Okay they must be the dps. While sunbreaker and sentinel can do great damage with synthrocepts, damage does not equal dps. A hunter running blade barrage or golden gun with their respective exotics can use their supers 3 times or possibly more in the time it takes a Titan to use one and grab orbs for a second. Warlocks can get nearly as much using nova bomb. Titans got shafted in D2 PvE. No doubt. Can’t seem to enjoy maining any other class. Doubt any changes will come to titans. Saw what they tried to do with Code of the Juggernaut and it didn’t even last two months. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Ok but the bubble got a massive buff back before forsaken and was strong but since BB came in the bubble became usless again
-
Here’s what i suggest be changed: The bubble has a metric crap ton of health You can shoot outside the bubble but it doesn’t increase damage of your weapons. And more orbs are generated and Ursa Furiosa works with wars of dawn
-
I want to be able to shoot things while in the bubble ... thats it. Or a exotic piece that make it possible.

1 AntwortenNova Warp, top tree Dawnblade, top and bottom tree StormCaller, all of Voidwalker make us want to use it.

Reading through the thread, the only claims to its usefulness is in a single spot in Reckoning or a couple areas in Gambit. That's not really what I'd call a useful super, when the other two sentinel "codes" have a much broader array of usefulness. The amount of places code of the protector is useful is almost infinitesimal compared to the amount of places code of the aggressor or code of the commander. There's a lot more to the game than reckoning and gambit.
-
I miss the bubble too tbh. Not very many situations where it's useful though. Maybe making it an immune shield that lasts 30 seconds? Along with generating more orbs based on how much damage it takes? That'd be nice. I'd use that.
-
My favorite titan class then d2 destroyed it.
-
2 AntwortenUse it with Saint-14, in the middle, with their Primeval, and laugh and laugh! People would charge in, get blinded, then run away. My teammates were crying so hard from the play by play. And we won!!!

Here is why D1 Defender was Boss: Iron Harvest - chance to make orbs with heavy kill Chance to make orbs while barrier is up from, you guessed it, punching Bubble makes orbs while taking damage Those 3 things alone were vital to a Defender as his role was simple, help everyone else get their supers. Maybe it got neutered when I farted out 90 orbs during one strike as a Defender? 🤔

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von parallelish: 3/11/2019 3:22:34 PMadd weapons of light to top tree add blessing of light to bottom tree add armor of light to mid tree make helm of st. 14 grant a larger bubble that last a little longer when ward of dawn is used. also: take Doom Fang Pauldron and make it so if you cast ward of dawn you get the perk from D1 where if your bubble takes damage it produces more orbs for you and your allies.

Buff Titan Bubble!

1 AntwortenI see a lot of people talking about how bubble is useful for tier 2 reckoning...just use ursa and code of the commander. Heal your allies constantly, generate more orbs, mop everything with explosions, get your super back in an instant while protecting your allies constantly, rinse and repeat. I don't die during that part unless something seriously unlucky happen. Offense is just far too important for Destiny now that everything revolves around bursting things down with damage. Bubble being situational is fine, but it's TOO situational to where it's value revolves around hiding to capture an objective. It's needs the flexibility of blessings of light without exotics because exotics are incredibly important for sentinel to make it a really good super, especially with that skill tree, and since it takes your ENTIRE super there's no good reason it should be so incredibly limiting as well as requiring an exotic to make itself more useful. It's like thundercrash in pve, without exotics it pretty much sucks because ability regen is too slow and it's damage mid super isn't worth it. It should grant armor on the inside of the bubble but when you exit the bubble you are granted blessings of light for 10 seconds. Make it so that during those 10 seconds you can't stack armor on it but blessings of light will regenerate constantly while inside the bubble. This would allow for flexibility and it's self balancing. If you leave the bubble you are still protected but you don't get the benefits of armor until after the buff is over, so you can't just make yourself near invincible and constantly peek out of bubble for activities like crucible without sacrificing some defense temporarily for flexibility. I used to really like bubble in d1 when it was a buff dispenser AND a reliable bunker to hide in. It's just not useful as it is right now, at least not to me. I find too much more value in just killing everything that's attacking my allies, then temporarily defending them and them waiting till they regen to get rid of the targets you activated it against.

2 AntwortenBe able to shoot out of it, problem solved

4 AntwortenWard of dawn is a defensive super but the issue is there isn't enough times when you need defense. What I would like to see is it provide some sort of neutral game support to help keep its defensive nature, but allow for more use in current content. Something like the bubble can provided max stats to all nearby allies while it is up or while in the bubble all abilities charge faster.
-
2 AntwortenWhen you have all invader perks active and you pop a bubble on the enemy bank. Yeah. Theres a reason to use it. People sleep on bubble and well. I invaded in regular Gambit yesterday with a well and killed so many of them. Invaded with a bubble in Prime. They had no idea what to do lmao. One guy rushed the bubble...it was a short journey.
-
It was great on the bridge portion of the tier two reckoning. 5-6 bubbles, one for each zone. Use Helm of Saint 14, blinding bubble, shelter from snipers and overshield if you leave.
-
They can't. They're unwilling to give the Super back its buffs.....probably for reasons of PVP.... ...and they've changed the design of PVE content such that not only is there no real use for defending a specific location on the map....you're actually PUNISHED for trying to do it. The designers clearly want us running around in constant motion rather than fighting from cover. So what's the point of dropping a WoD only to have a boss or even a Cabal Phalanx knock you out of it....across the map and into some object and kill you. Killed by the Architects. Misadventure.
