I feel that Halo has runs its course for the most part. The only way I could really see it end is with a giant End Times-level war, with the Flood destroyed or imprisoned forever, humanity and the former Covenant races either wiped out or reduced to a few planets, maybe with a new "Covenant" forming, and much of the ancient Forerunner technology either being taken for study or outright destroyed.
