Any time the conversation shifts to compensation due to something becoming free I immediately discount the person saying it.
That’s not how it works in the real world, kid.
It would be like going to a store and expecting them to accept expired coupons.
Things change price all the time. Not like you can constantly get things/get something back because you purchased it st s previous price point.

It is not ethical to screw over day 1 players just to get new players to come in, NO serious company treats their customers like that
-
Most company’s treat their customers like that. Buy a car for 20k and go to a lot and want 5k back because they reduced the price 2 months later. They will laugh you dead in the face. Didn’t say it was beneficial for the end user, it’s just what it is. You more than likely got the time investment out of what you spent anyways by this point no matter what you have to say in the matter.
-
Pretty much every company does this in any ongoing game. Also nobody cares that you’re a Day 1 Player. Literally nobody
-
Day 1 means jack shit when all money spent is equal.

You are focusing way too much on the compensation part. The main focus is that I won't be buying any more destiny stuff because they sold a half a$$ game at launch and when they got it together they handed it out for free to increase the player base, but in effect screwing us over. As a customer I feel like an idiot for buying it at full price, hence the "betrayal" part.
