The plot for D2 was too simple & a wasted opportunity. Having Ghaul as the bad guy was to simplistic.
A perfect time for a plot twist would have been following Ghaul's discussion with the Speaker. Where the Speaker has just explained to Ghaul about the Guardians & the concepts of their devotion, bravery, & sacrifice.
Then Ghaul has a difference of opinion with his Consul (who should have been the real bad guy).
Ghaul should have left his ship & had a crisis of conscience. Realising through an epiphany that he is going about trying to get the Traveller's light the wrong way & rebels against the Consul, his mentor.
Then with the help of "the Guardian" who got his light back rebels & attacks the Consul.
Ghaul could also have convinced some of his "bodyguard" to join him.
This would have given the player an interesting npc to team up with for a few missions.
Ghaul would obviously have to be killed during his rebellion. At which point Ghaul would have been recognised by the Traveler for his change of heart & resurrected as a Guardian, to then become legend.
The Vanguard could then have helped Ghaul remember who he was & then the Guardian & Ghaul could have fought the Consul, with the Guardians killing the Consul in the Raid.
Ghaul then goes on to make peace with the city, perhaps with some loyalist legionares to boot & becomes the Raid Vendor.
That way we still get the Red Legion as npc enemies & a better end to Ghaul's story & the Red War without the story being so simplistic & juvenile.

That’d be pretty cool.

I would have loved it if the speaker made Ghual question what he was doing and even become very infatuated with the speakers teachings. Imagine when Consol killed the speaker Ghual went into a blind rage and decided to "avenge" the speaker by claiming the light in his name I would have loved to see that... But it never happened

Bearbeitet von OneTrueMandalor: 12/12/2018 7:20:45 PMWhile that sounds interesting, it’s still a bit strange...like, why would the Consul be a story boss AND a raid boss? From what we’ve seen, he’s just an old Cabal dude, nothing special, doesn’t look like he’d be that great of a fighter like Ghaul. That would also conflict with the whole Calus story since Ghaul helped overthrow him, and so both Ghaul and the Consul were on his hit list...and then there’s also the fact that the Speaker was lying the whole time when he said he spoke for the Traveler but it never spoke to him. And to have Ghaul and some Cabal guards become good guys and team up with the City after what they did...feels a little forced honestly. Of course, this is from my perspective, and yeah I do think that the vanilla campaign could’ve been improved upon, but not that extreme.
