The problem is to do with how the app is implementing the sign in browser. Recaptcha on the Sony sign in page has issues with the implementation for the D2 companion app. I can try signing into PSN, but then I hit "Trouble logging in" and try changing my password. The page where it has me put in my ID to send the reset link has a Recaptcha check box. If I tap the check box after putting in my email, the check box turns into the spinning circle doodad but after a bit, it fails and just goes back to an unchecked box. Now the kicker is, if you hit cancel it will send you back to the sign in page but its different than the initial one that you get from hitting PSN in the app. It has that little check box for verification. Put in your sign in stuff, hit the check box, same thing; spins and then nothing. Although on the Ishkar app I can sign in just fine since they open a Safari tab rather than an in app browser implementation. The Ishkar app even goes to the same sign in page as the D2 app. Has the little floating Recaptcha icon in the bottom corner. All of this was done on an iPhone 5C on iOS 10.3.3
