Been looking at it recently and from reading reviews, I've picked up that its tedious, but the writing and atmosphere is top notch.
Anyone care to persuade me into buying it?

Sunless Sea shares a universe with three other games: Fallen London, Sunless Skies, and Skyfarer. In this universe, there is a part of the world called the ‘Neath. Reality breaks down just a little, Hell resides just under it, and sometimes a deal is made that drags a city down to become a part of it. London is the 5th of these cities, and for one reason or another you are a Londoner. The Sunless Sea is about a part of London called the Zee, where death can be permanent, and islands shift about when least expected. There’s a wide variety of colonies and settlements here, and as long as you have enough fuel and sanity, you could explore them all. That’s the tricky thing, having enough fuel and sanity. I love the universe, but I can agree that there’s a fair amount of grind to it. Perhaps try Fallen London first for a bit, it’s a free browser game. If you like Fallen London for it’s writing, you might be suited for Sunless Sea.
