A few weeks ago, I was taking a crap and thinking about Stormcaller-specific exotic ideas. If I am correct, Stormcallers have only one exotic that specifically buffs their subclass, instead of the Voidwalker’s two and the three boasted by the Dawnblade. So, anyway, I was wondering, what if the Impossible Machines came back? And even better than ever? (In case you didn’t know, the Impossible Machines were a D1 exotic that granted Stormcallers the landfall node for free, so they could devote the column it was in to another node). Keep in mind that the numbers I included were just approximations of the buffs/debuffs granted by the exotic and not based on any data at all. I hope you guys like it!
Intrinsic perk:
Lightning Rod
Grants/enhances the landfall ability.
Holding down [melee] while not in a super will cause a bolt of lightning to strike you, taking away a large portion of your health, but boosts your movement speed and non-super ability recharge rate for a short period of time, along with damaging nearby enemies.
More specific details
For Attunement of Conduction:
Grants the basic landfall node
For Attunement of the Elements:
Buffs the damage and blast radius of landfall (both by 40%)
Holding down the melee button:
Fires a bolt of lightning that does a portion of the basic landfall’s damage to enemies (or just enough to one-shot other guardians in PvP) within a radius but takes away 70% of your health. The user is granted greatly increased movement speed and a 30% boost to his/her non-super ability recharge rate for a short period of time.
This is more of a risk/reward exotic, but I think it would be useful - and, more importantly, fun - to use in certain scenarios. Plus, it’s powerful, but it’s somewhat balanced due to the user’s loss of health. I would absolutely love for this to be a possibility, but I’d be hoping for too much. Oh well.
The dead come for these, but the dead should not have them.
The impossible machine was a fun DOS game from my childhood. Mannnnnnn now imma have to go buy that game.
-
Impossible machine, I like my idea a little better. I would just like the ability to use landfall outside of the super. Maybe consume part of your super gauge or grenade/ charged or arial melee. The status effect with ikelos SG etc would be broke, let alone the ability to clear large areas of trash mobs.
-
I'm not sure about the landfall thing, but the self inflicting lightning bolt on melee sounds super fun.
-
Well that actually sounds interesting. So we all know it will never come to d2.
-
Landfall in D1 was the worst thing bungie ever did, it was way to overpowered and bringing that back would screw all non-stormcaller guardians. with the new changes to crucible coming out, it'll be even worse, look I'm not bashing your idea but you'd need to add exotics with similar strength to both hunters and titans so the game doesn't end up unbalanced like D1 was
to anyone who disagrees, you're probably a warlock from D1
-
Lol, you want a one-shot AoE non-Super melee ability? GTFOH
-
Lol I stopped reading after I saw that this idea came up during a crap. *Casually crapping like any other casual crapper* “Hmmm... I have an idea.”
This is how all good ideas form
-
I'm thinking and I can't seem to remember a Voidwalker exclusive exotic besides Helm of Dire Ahamakara.
-
I think you mean it’s a riskrunner/reward exotic. Puns aside, the self-inflicted melee damage perk sounds very fun to use. However, I don’t think it should grant Landfall since it’s already a perk belonging to one tree and trees don’t share any perks. The enhance effect sounds like it could work, though.
-
Well it's a good risk/reward exotic Idea
-
But would risk runner half the damage you took?
-
Okay that self infliction sounds awesome and would synergize perfectly with riskrunner
