I always kind of felt like Bungie missed a kind of obvious trick for creating impact and an emotional connection by not emphasizing and exploring those dead ghosts more. I mean... how powerful is that image? For those who have died and died again, only to come back to continue to serve... and then can serve no more. It should be a HUGE thing when the Light of a Guardian and their Ghost are finally lost forever. For the deathless to die... there's a huge possibility for impact there that was really missed. I love the lore, the personal elements. As a life long role player and storyteller, that is the aspect of things that really appeals to me. And the parallels to the life and service of those in the Armed Forces is obvious. It feels like there could be a real form of thank you and love letter in the passive narrative of those elements. So... I sought to make them less passive and more forward. Glad to see I'm not alone in really loving those themes. We're out there, Guardian.

Even in D2 Bungie failed to get death with chance to come back to mean anything more than a terrible and regrettable circumstance and not the death of a being that meant something to someone. Always enjoyed role playing as well as a good story/story telling, (main reason I'm writing a fan fic) guardians shouldn't fly solo if they've got a fire team, even in death.
