I don't like some of the modifiers in the Mercury Heroic Adventures so I hope they've only put the fun ones in.

That's the nature of Destiny. Sometimes the modifiers have workarounds and synergy, sometimes they make zero sense. In D1 this week CoE had trickle combined with super kill bonus. We countered it with Zhalo and Juju and got pur card filled easily even though the modifiers were garbage. My favorite was melee kill bonus. I go in as an energy drain voidlock and -blam!- shit up. I can solo that 30,000 point section on melee.
