Just the way the game is, most RPGs use that mechanic. "Choose wisely" pretty much covers it. Don't know if this would appeal to you, but I actually had the same problem (regretted a character choice), and the solution is to wipe the character and start over. Stick all your good gear in the Vault (equip a bunch of random Blue/Rare gear) first, then replay the campaign and level everything up again. The advantages are: A) You get a better-looking character. :) B) You get to play the campaign again, in order, which has always been difficult to do otherwise (even in D1). C) You have a reason to "level up," which pretty much goes away once you hit the cap. D) You get to do all the Exotic Quests again. If you wait until you hit Level 25 and put your old gear back on, they'll drop at a higher level, and can be kept or used for Infusion. E) If you like the RPG elements of the game, it lets you redo all the Lost Sectors, Adventures, Region Chests, and clear them all off the map again. F) Free Milestone loot for all the first-time stuff! I actually re-roll characters fairly regularly, both to mix up activities and to get the free high-level Infusion gear, especially when new DLC drops and "the grind" for Light Levels picks up - plus, they often add new dialogue and little "easter eggs" and changes to the Campaign over time, and most players never even notice or know about it. I currently have 3 Exos based on Vex, painted Vex gold with red eyes, which worked out well with the new Eververse armor and the Forge weapons - fits the theme of this DLC quite nicely.

  • I’m considering that option, I just don’t have the time to replay the campaign again, and I’d rather not have to do all the exotic quests again. But I’m pretty sure games like Monster Hunter have an option to edit your character’s hairstyle, so I’m not sure why Destiny doesn’t. Also why don’t we get beards for the fleshy races? I feel like that could be a good addition

  • Facial hair, don't know - probably to do with keeping the code simple. Same reason there're only a handful of faces for each race. This ain't no Skyrim. As for why Destiny doesn't allow editing, they never have. Some games do, some don't. Since this is half-RPG, they want people to feel attached to their character, and adding an appearance editor would require a bunch of dynamic code that's a lot easier to keep on the front end as a one-time-only thing. (Same reason you can't rotate your character on the selection screen.) Plus, I think they KNEW a bunch of people would make a purple-skinned yellow-mohawked Awoken with bright green face paint because it was funny, and would regret that decision after a while - having to start over might make people consider their next choice more carefully. :D If all else fails, just keep your helmet on and you'll never have to look at it.
