Republicans hold 51 seats in the Senate, and John McCain is absent. Democrats control 49, a minority, but enough for a filibuster. Democrats up and decided that they would not accept any spending bill that did not have full daca amnesty with no concessions whatsoever to the Republican majority and the white house. The "Bipartisan bill" was really just everything democrats wanted, supported by Lindsey Graham and 1 other Republican, in direct contradiction to what the white house has been calling for, for months. Chuck Schumer offered to "authorize" wall funding... but not actually appropriate it and the gramnesty bill would only provide like 10 percent of the funding necessary, and leave immigration, illegal and legal, unchecked.
