Dude the democrats have been lying for the longest time. They lied about the party switching, they lied about the racism and xenophobia that is happening. The teenagers here who post here are the perfect example of r/politics. Everyone who disagrees is a [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url]. People HAD to make another sub called r/neutralpolitics to get the facts.
They are the party that lies to the weak minded who can't think for themselves, if you vote for democrat you vote against yourself.

Agreed. Reddit is a place for teens to spread misinformation through mob rule and it is a site that is very left leaning.

To call it a bona fide switch is inaccurate, but the Democrats certainly moved Left over time whilst the Republicans [i]maybe[/i] shifted slightly further right to pick up disenfranchised former Dem voters and Politicians.

Their policies were pretty much the same, minus slavery. Slavery isn’t a left - right thing though.

Aye, both parties were right wing at the time - in fact the entire era was right wing by todays standards. The difference between the two parties was the Democrats wanted to expand States Rights and the Republicans were formed in reaction to that - a bunch of Whigs who felt the Democrats were going too far with said expansion. Whilst overall the Republican Party of yore was very much Conservative, the Democrats of that time were even [i]more[/i] Conservative.
