I think what TW totally missed here is the fact that destiny 2 is so bad in comparison BECAUSE THEY LISTENED TO FEEDBACK. -blam!- the months and years I spent campaigning against balance here, fighting an endless stream of nerf herding crucibabies (TM). I said time and time again, balance is boring, and it will kill the soul of this game, and here we are. Now this new transparency has only empowered the cry babies. The downward spiral is unstoppable now.

    Go back and read some of the tweets made by Triple and other big streamers. The current state of the Crucible is 100% what they asked for. Nerfs to grenades, supers, special ammo, heavy ammo, warlock melee, throwing knives and shoulder charge..and 4v4 for MLG. Prior to D2 release, many of them were invited out to BUNGIE studios, whined and dined, given early access to the game, then asked for their input. Some of them have talked openly about this. It’s not really up for debate.

    Have you been here since D1 vanilla? Have you seen the nerfs that were all directly caused by people bitching... erm... giving feedback on here? If you haven’t you’re either blind or not paying any attention. This abomination we have on our hands is 100% a direct result of the “balance” forums kids cried for. But don’t take my word for it. Look back through the years of TWAB’s where Deej would start by saying “we hear you about balance” then systematically destroy another of our favourite guns week after week. With this game they had a fresh start and a chance to make everything “balanced” they took it, and it -blam!-in sucks.

  • Did the same campaigning, PVE is a mess now and none of the things listed are going to change that.

  • Honestly the only guns I ever felt were too much were the last word ,thorn, and the sniper rifles we called high impact shotguns. I just never felt any primary should beat out heavy. I never understood why they nerfed PvE guns like Ghorn or ice breaker. Like did people feel bad for the dregs or something I never understood that. In all honesty you can’t exclusively blame people who wanted nerfs though. Like when they nerfed hungering blade on BD. I don’t think I saw a single person complaining about it. If anything I saw people saying to buff it. In the end bungie makes the decision.

    There was always a work around for every gun. You had a pool of a couple hand cannons, Fel Winter, efrideet, time worn spire. The possibilities were endless, if you didn’t want to get shot gunned and you knew someone was running it, you stayed out of tight quarters, simple as that. I admit you couldn’t use things like spire in IB or Trials, but man there was always a counter for everything. Except the vex right off the hop. But even then I guess there was OG suros. There should only be a couple OP weapons in any good looter. They should be hard to get and they should be straight broken.

  • Honestly the shotguns wouldn’t have been that much of a problem if the majority of the maps weren’t CQ maps. Like you had a much easier time dealing with it in shores of time than the anomaly. Like I still ended up doing well in D1 I had like a 1.8 KD overall but it annoys me that if I’m on a crazy kill streak it can end in an instant because someone was using an easy to acquire gun (IMO) that had A LOT of room for error simply because how much range the gun had. Any other loot game like take WoW for example where Pretty much each raid had tier set but after a certain amount of time those sets would get left behind and we’d have new sets. If bungie left guns behind but actually created a plethora of guns then it wouldn’t be that bad. Gets annoying to get killed by the same handful of guns for a year. I doubt it could really be that hard to make a new archetype of a gun.

    This game was so good when it was a bit more like WoW, but unfortunately the FPS kids just couldn’t wrap their heads around not all guns being the same boring TTK.

  • I just wish bungie wasn’t so quick to give into nerf demands. Like if they said (this is just a random number) .75 secs should be the general TTK for primaries and just buffed and nerfed to try to fit into that specific or around there then I feel the nerfs and buffs wouldn’t be so bad. Like when the highest impact auto rifle went from 27 per headshot to 23 those guns legit weren’t even used for the longest time. That and they NEED to buff and nerf PvP and PvE separately. I 100% believe the new double primary system was to try to balance PvP while the old system was perfectly fine in PvE. Like if the current energy weapon system was just implemented into the primary slot and that was it PvE would be a lot more fun.

  • My guy felwinters lie with shot package or rangefinder was in no way fine. If you have a gun type that is so good that it makes all other types of it’s gun obsolete that’s not good. Like you could use the lower impact ones but the only reason you’d EVER want to is because you wanted to not because it was better in any situation. 100% the nerfing of fusion rifles didn’t help but the highest impact shotgun in its prime was a problem.

  • I agree Fel Winter with that roll was OP, and MAN did I grind for that bad boy. Then I played toonnnnsss of PvP games with it. (I’m PvE all day long usually). It gave me something to play towards, then made me feel genuinely awesome and powerful when I finally got it. This illustrates exactly what I’m talking about. This game didn’t need balance, it was fun playing with OP weapons. There are a ton of other PvP shooters people could have played if they couldn’t accept that, but instead they ruined this one and crushed its soul. There will never be a moment in D2 as exciting as the moment your first Fel Winter or Gjally dropped, never. Because balance must be preserved... apparently.

  • 100% percent it felt great as hell to get that gun. I used it too. I don’t mind OP but when somethings OP to the point where straight up nothing else can really compete I don’t like it. The shotgun meta honestly could have been countered by a fusion rifle buff so that you could see both being used. Like if fusion rifles stayed the same and shot guns stayed boom there’s your counter. This extremely high TTK and teamshot meta that is D2 is so slow and boring. 100% in a loot based game you should have OP guns but to do so you need good variety of OP and a shifting meta with no clean “best gun”

  • I'm with you man. I loved the outrageous OP feel of early Destiny. It was the arcade shooter I was looking for. Too many FPS games are trying too hard to be tactical/realstic and forget about fun.

  • The moment I knew we were headed in a bad direction was when they nerfed Ice Breaker and Gjally. Couldn’t have people playing the game the way they liked, had to fall in and let the other weapons get some use too. Totally forgetting that the only reason anyone plays a looter is for the OP weapons. That’s the whole objective, to become a god of destruction. Not just use the Nameless midnight you got half way through the campaign for the entirety of the game because everything is balanced anyway.
