Oh no, it was a ramble. I don't agree with the way eververse has been implemented, and feel it's a lens that forces you to constantly address micro-transactions rather than just earning gear and items through in-game activities and accomplishments. Nor do I agree with the way bungie has tried to hide attempts to push people towards the store and stall progression to throttle the rate you get the eververse friendly bright engrams. However, the initial rant was a spin on a serious subject. Loose comparisons between eververse acting as a bread line (everyone having to go to the same place for most basic rewards) and exp throttling to prevent grinding and high earning players from advancing too far ahead of those that play on a more casual basis (a play on communism's focus on "equality of outcome" as opposed to "equality of opportunity") were made to sound more serious. The end goal was to come across sounding like cold war propaganda. It'd be like saying the cabal invasion was actually a conspiracy to overthrow the Speaker and establish a new Soviet Union before spreading like an itchy red blanket across the globe.

There is a religious group that operates as a communist organization. They have been around for hundreds of years in multiple countries. They decide what each individual will do for the community. Nobody in the community makes an income. The community provides everything to the individual and the individual provides what the community ask of them. It is perfect communism. It works because they believe God provides everything and the individual owns nothing. They educate there members, send them to colleges and trade schools. It's really pretty amazing. So communism can work, the human factor is what screws it up. The community name is the bruderhauf.

After looking into bruderhof, I'd have to say this isn't an example of successful communism, but rather an example of a commune that exists within a capitalist state. Much like slab city, this group seems to rely on the nation around it for the sustained existence of the commune. However, while slab city is an anarcho communist commune that relies on the welfare and other monetary government benefits to buy its supplies from markets outside of the city, bruderhof actually seems to send it's members into the workforce of the capitalist nations and does business on their level. Since it identifies as a religious organization, it would be surprising if it weren't taking advantage of things like tax breaks and grants that are usually offered to religious organizations to sustain itself on top of the benefits offered to the education centric production company that acts as its primary income source. The bruderhof communes still operate in a way that could only be successful on a small scale. I couldn't find who actually decides what job each person will have, but none of the jobs they seem to do deal with things like food production, defense, communication, medical research and engineering, or really anything beyond manufacturing (including that of current medical technologies), business, medical practice, and possibly law related professions (from what I could find at least). This is a society that would be unable to survive on a national level as it depends on trade with its surrounding nation for supplies, utility, and protection. Even if it did somehow survive on a large scale, it's development would stagnate. Bruderhof does have an education system for children and teens, but it's higher level education, which serves as the only current means of social and technological advancement, relies entirely on the teachings of universities outside of the bruderhof teachings. Without the developments and technological advancement taught by these universities, the bruderhof society would not move forward as its teachings don't seem to encourage a need for change and advancement. This is a society that does not allow television and Internet use for widespread communication, so it would be unable to reliably track and inform it's population on things like the number of farmers needed to produce food for the nation, any crop shortages that pose a significant risk, the spread of disease or need for medical supplies, the need for supplies in areas effected by natural disasters, so on. Further, if the jobs people do are decided by something like a democratic vote, how will they know how many framers, engineers, plumbers, law enforcement(?), truck drivers, pilots, and so on there will be without an economy driven by supply and demand to know what's actually needed? If it's decided by a small group of people or one main person, how will it do the same mentioned above and what makes it any different from the Soviet Union (which was another example of failed communism because one of the major pillars of communism is the absence of a major government body)? Bruderhof relies on the capitalist nations that host its communes to survive. They are not free standing communist societies, and are still ultimately subject to the legislation of their hosting nation.

Maybe. It still doesn't hurt to let its opposition remain in the forefront though, even with the understanding that it can't be completely removed from the current game. If nothing else, continued push back will prevent further intrusion and will better keep the extent of eververse in check as destiny 2 moves forward. The damage has been done, so continued opposition will hopefully keep bungie from sinking the salvage operation.
