You guys at Bungie made a deliberate, insidious move with D2 only with two main objectives in mind:
- making it a casual FPS to increase your player base;
- balancing PvP by toning down and scraping almost everything that made Destiny what it was at his core;
What did you achieve with that? None of the goals you were pursuing.
The player base is decreasing because casual players do what they always do, they play the campaign, a few of other modes here and there and move on. And because of the abysmal nerf and scraps you made to all the fundamental systems of the game, the core players are abandoning D2 as well.
On PvP side almost everyone says that the new gameplay is boring, has no excitement at all and the number of people that still play it is getting as low as it has ever been. Just look at Trials numbers.
In the end, all that Bungie achieved with D2 was making money by betraying all their player base that trusted that you guys would build D2 upon the refinement that was achieved over the last 3 years with D1.
Yes, you played the deception card and you won, congratulations. But by doing so you also showed your true colors to your community and the future looks grim for your company, as far as I'm concerned.
The only way you can minimize (not repair) the enormous hole you made in your own reputation as a developer, is:
- completely scrap the core conception of D2 and return to D1 core design as in year 3 AoT period;
- separate PvE and PvP balance. Create specific gear for PvP that can only be earned and used in that game mode and block all PvE gear for being used in PvP;
Anything less than that will only be like trying to put down a huge fire with glasses of water. It won't work.

So, is this uproar about Eververse, shady tactics and the paywall, or is it about not being able to use shotguns and snipers in the special weapons slot? If the ultimate goal of #RemoveEververse is *really* just to make D2 better for you and a handful of PvP-only players, then what you’re doing is no different than what BungiVision did.
-
I'm not a PvP player, you're barking at the wrong tree. Also I don't think Eververse is the fundamental problem with d2, my post is self explanatory in that matter.
-
Oh. Sorry. I thought since your highest power level is 309, you were most likely PvP only, like the other people who play PvP without bothering to level up. Obviously that’s not you. I apologize. I don’t, however, retract my statement🙃.
-
No need to apologize. And I agree with what you said, it just doesn't apply to me. Stay cool guardian :)

Bearbeitet von YourVillain: 1/6/2018 5:00:36 PM
- balancing PvP by toning down and scraping almost everything that made Destiny what it was at his core;.
Lot of stuff there but one stood out. What was Destiny 1 PvP at it's core? It had a low TTK with slow movement ability. That led to players being able to master a couple one hit kill weapons and dominate with very few counters. Either you dominate at range as a sniper (with always on radar) controlling every open area and hallway. Or You dominate in close quarters with a shotty (with an always on radar) and control every doorway and corner. The only counter to that play style was to use a sniper, shotgun or occasional heavy yourself. This game has always been a man with no country. It doesn't really fit in anywhere and when you factor in trying to balance it with PvE also... it's just spinning plates.
-
Bearbeitet von CookieNiki: 1/6/2018 11:19:34 PMThat's precisely why my post clearly states that PvP and PvE should be separated with specific gear each one. That would grant full liberty to refine the balance of each game mode. Also it would open the door to have more diversity in gear and in gameplay. Right now, in D2, we have neither.

What I'm getting at is people keep acting like they are longing for some glory days of Destiny 1 PvP that didn't exist. Full disclosure, I like Destiny 2 PvP. It is closer to a balance than Destiny 1 ever was but it's definitely slower paced. Every move to balance the power of one hit kill weapons and abilities was met with anger from both sides, Buff vs Nerf. If you looked at the forum in those days it was usually filled with PvP complaints. This has never been a balanced PvP game but it's closer than its been.

Bearbeitet von CookieNiki: 1/6/2018 11:22:12 PMI think people are disappointed with D2 in general, not just with PvP changes.
-
Yeah, they have become glory days because this PvP is stale as fxck. Honestly though I'm half in agreement with you concerning balance. I don't think it should ever have been attempted in the first place. This isn't Overwatch or CoD or any other shooter. It's a space magic looter for fxck sake, it isnt supposed to be balanced. Skilled players will move up and be better, casuals won't. Split them into separate playlists or have ranked play and be done with it. But to answer your question, any of the D1 days were better when it comes to PvP. Even during the metas there was still fun to be had and great plays that could be pulled off. Now there's just herd shooting.

I think he means that options to play with variety have been reduced. Destiny had a core mechanic of variety, which almost doesn't exist anymore
-
True, variety is reduced but I don't think he's talking about game modes. At its "core" kinda seems like it implies game mechanics... which has always been a mess
-
They made money. Who the fk are you???*
-
That money wont last forever. Also, making money isnt a sign of success in this industry, long term money flow is.
-
Exactly.
-
Jesus. Get over yourself... Stupid millennials man.
-
Millennial man? LOL Started playing games back in the 70's with PONG. Probably you weren't even born yet. Try again.
-
You forgot a third important point: - Promoting Eververse with shady tactics (XP throttling, putting new items behind it, etc.)
-
Bearbeitet von CookieNiki: 1/6/2018 4:19:50 PMI didn't forgot that, I only think that's not the core problem with D2. If D2 was a good game built upon D1 refinements, almost nobody would care about Eververse, at least not to the degree we've been seeing. Everything in D2 was built upon a wrong conception of the game, it's like Bungie don't even have a clue about their player base, about what kept them playing Destiny for 3 years straight, despite the fair amount of flaws it had. What the heck, it's like Destiny 1 never existed.
-
Totally true. I only think the focus on Eververse is a big part of the problem that they lost their focus on the game itself.
