Player Feedback: The Dawning

Hello all, Since the Dawning went live, we've been watching the conversation and recording your feedback. I'd like to give a short list of items that have been noted.     • I know this isnt a huge pressing matter, but consider implementing a trade system. Due to D2 being a MMO, image how great it would be if your fireteam and clanmates could trade with you? Now you have a USE for all those duplicate Exotics! Yall are getting some rough feedback but just know not all of us hate you, but I would appreciate some more transparency of where you are taking this game so we as the players can give feedback, just like the first person in this thread mentioned

          • I agree with many of the criticisms here. Dawning/Eververse are bad. Half of this special event is just to promote the casino and the other is Mayhem (the only meaningful game play change) and it is plagued by Cheat-lock novas. How about in the future, if you release new code, test it or at least have staff on hand to fix bugs?! I wish I could keep my job and treat my users that way (not that I would, but I'd relax now and again) The "randomness" of drops is very annoying. My character was 334 last week, all 335 but one item. 6 high power engrams later, no gloves for my Warlock. Very frustrating. Also, bring back SRL?

              What the hell happened to armor perks? And the weapon perks need serious improvements. There aren’t any original or interesting perks in all of D2. Constructive perk ideas: - Guardian angel: landing consecutive precision shots/breaking a shield give ability to instantly revive fallen guardian. - Infectious: precision kills creates an elemental chain to nearby enemies that causes vulnerability to the specific element used. - Last but not least: kills with the final round detonates a blinding flash and temp blinds nearby enemies. (I’m thinking HC perk)

              • It takes forever to create content..ok, fine! Three people getting paid full time to be community managers? I could give Bungie executives the basics of what the community is saying in about 30min. Three people at least working a 40 hour week can’t reply to the community? That’s 120 hours minimum a week, every week! But not 5 minuets out of one of the three guys day is spent replying to the community. How many people are on Bungie’s payroll that are just sitting around not doing a damn thing? I see the need for eververse! Hopefully all three of them can finish writing next weeks TWAB! I’m afraid they may miss their deadline! So many people, and so much communication. I’m sure they won’t have enough time.

                  Can I just say bungie you got nothing right in this game you have ruined everything that was good about destiny, I think it’s time you showed the real destiny players what you can actually do given the right feedback, we are only pissed because what we received was a totally lacklustre borefest when we should’ve got so much more anyway balls in your court but what I really want to know is can u fix it an answer would be nice but I don’t hold my breath Sry I did enjoy mayhem

                • Hi Guys, first, thanks for all the great years of gaming. I don't comment very much but, have been a loyal gamer since halo. Sincerely, thanks; you have filled way too many hours of my life with your great games. Just to add to the collective here you guys did have it perfect in Destiny 1, perfect. Please recognize that it is ok to have content (armor, weapons, whatever) that isn't achieved by everyone. Those special weapons and gear acquired in a raid that only the guys who beat the raid were able to get is completely ok. This is coming from a gamer who only was lucky enough to beat a raid once in D1. Those players deserved those awards / badges of honor. The other 8 million hours I put into D1 I grinded for cool stuff and QUESTED for exotics. It was amazing start to finish. I'm still playing D2 because you always get the game play right. But, it just isn't fun like it used to be. The coin collecting is really boring. The oddest part is that you applied it to every character. It's very repetitive. Collect coins, turn them into "x" over and over and over. I really miss "go to this area, wait for this to happen, kill the big yellow guy on earth, then go to the moon and complete " x", then complete the bla bla strike, then talk to zavala, then collect 15 "x" " and after all of that you EARNED an exotic. D2 is missing the hunt, the grind and the magic and I'm really hoping you can bring it back. I'm that gamer you are always talking about "we want Destiny to be your hobby, where you meets friends, where you..." and there are many of us. Bungie games are our hobby. What I'm not sure if you realize that; we are Bungie hobbyists. Weve been making the friends since halo 2. We are here but, you are losing us with this one. Not permanently. D2 just lost the magic. Maybe to summarize thanks for all of the amazing games and memories, please continue to listen and hopefully get D2 filled with that Destiny magic again and remove the coin machine repetition (bring back the quests and a meaningful grind and it's OK to play 8 million hours and not earn everything, oddly enough it's part of the lore, there is always something else to do ). I'll be a fan for life and a lot of these negative Nancy's will too. Thanks for listening.

                • Just for shits and giggles i wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So I did a test. I did all the schematics at the beginning and ended up getting the whole titan set of dawning armor, the sword, plus the exotic ghost, emote, ship and sparrow. (And yes I do have 2 titans so it was a bit easier.) But still got it all Without buying any silver. Then I tried on my warlock, and never got more than 2 class items. Then the schematics were gone and I never got anything but sparrows ghosts ships and swords. It actually cost me $40 dollars worth of silver to buy enough dawning engrams to get just the armor. This is completely unacceptable. Not only will I never buy silver again, but I'm hesitant to even play anymore due to the constant disappointment, damn We already pay for the game and individually have to buy each dlc if you don't have the season pass... wow. I'm 39 and have been gaming since commadore 64 and Atari. And this is just a serious ripoff at least in c.o.d. you can earn supply drop daily and easily I might add. Just for playing the game. Granted there is the option of buying them, but it's still better than the eververse system with actual usable things. And the sadder fact is that it's the same people. Activision. Trying to take over the gaming world. Sux because I did love destiny at one time.

                    Schematics: Tedious to complete and the rewards that I received were pitiful and repetitive. Getting the same ghosts, sparrows, ships, shaders, and sword over and over again was tolerable at first, here's why. They rewarded me with bright dust so I could buy items I really wanted from Eververse if I saved it. Once I started getting free presents, that's when I became irritated and frustrated. Rewarding a legendary shard or 2 plus glimmer was a joke. Dawning shaders: Having two different stacks of the same shaders was frustrating because some were given out for free and others were earned. Maybe if I could tell the difference without dismantling one I would have been less annoyed or maybe just have them all be in the same stack and drop bright dust from all of them. Milestones of Winter: I thoroughly enjoyed the quest. Mayhem was great when there weren't Nova Bomb glitchers. Strikes were fun as usual except when players were afk which I ran into almost every single strike. Initially I was pleased that you received Dawning engrams from the quest steps... until of course I tried it on my secondary and third characters to realize you don't receive Dawning engrams from completing the milestones if you completed it on another character. If there was more transparency in an in game update or a Bungie.net update about the reward system I would have played much less and would have most likely been less disappointed. I found this quote to be misleading in the update. [quote]Engage in Crucible Mayhem or become legend in Strikes and you'll be rewarded. Every week, complete a milestone for a Dawning engram.[/quote] When it says engage in Crucible Mayhem or... Strikes, I expected two quests not one. The or should have been an and in the update. And finally, saying that every week we could complete a milestone for a Dawning engram was vague and could have been explained more thoroughly. Snowballs: Probably my favorite benefit of The Dawning. Fun to use, damage seemed adequate, and their debuffs weren't too annoying. I wish they didn't cause the debuff to be applied to allies due to griefing. They also were frustrating road blocks when trying to revive teammates who died near a pile. Dawning Tokens: They are fine to use but unnecessary to the game. I thought they added no value to the loot system just like the vanguard and crucible tokens. I feel that these tokens along with fated engrams are being used to coerce players into greatly reducing legendary shards as a means to rebalance the loot system. Dawning Engrams: Only being able to earn engrams once per week on only one character over a 3 week period was a joke in my opinion, here's why. It seemed that the loot pools were split between presents and engrams giving very few chances at premium Dawning content. With engrams being that scarce, I would have appreciated some transparency as to how limited they were every week and how they were limited to a maximum of one character per week. I understand that Eververse is optional and purely aesthetic but for those of us with no desire to shell out cash, the least you could do is explain what could be earned weekly or just pay wall us all together. I don't think that will happen due to the money Bungie earns from Eververse but with the whole death to Eververse thing going on I hope you heed our feedback. Tldr: I enjoyed the snowballs and The Dawning as an event. I did not enjoy the communication on reward caps, implementation of these caps, and communication on what could be earned weekly.

                    You guys at Bungie made a deliberate, insidious move with D2 only with two main objectives in mind: - making it a casual FPS to increase your player base; - balancing PvP by toning down and scraping almost everything that made Destiny what it was at his core; What did you achieve with that? None of the goals you were pursuing. The player base is decreasing because casual players do what they always do, they play the campaign, a few of other modes here and there and move on. And because of the abysmal nerf and scraps you made to all the fundamental systems of the game, the core players are abandoning D2 as well. On PvP side almost everyone says that the new gameplay is boring, has no excitement at all and the number of people that still play it is getting as low as it has ever been. Just look at Trials numbers. In the end, all that Bungie achieved with D2 was making money by betraying all their player base that trusted that you guys would build D2 upon the refinement that was achieved over the last 3 years with D1. Yes, you played the deception card and you won, congratulations. But by doing so you also showed your true colors to your community and the future looks grim for your company, as far as I'm concerned. The only way you can minimize (not repair) the enormous hole you made in your own reputation as a developer, is: - completely scrap the core conception of D2 and return to D1 core design as in year 3 AoT period; - separate PvE and PvP balance. Create specific gear for PvP that can only be [b][u]earned and used[/u][/b] in that game mode and [u]block all PvE gear for being used in PvP[/u]; Anything less than that will only be like trying to put down a huge fire with glasses of water. It won't work.
