Someday a gaming company will get it right.
Destiny has clearly moved away from the MMO RPG looter shooter it once strived to be and is being replaced with a casual ‘go here and shoot this and get some tokens to use on that slot machine’ kind of Rinse and repeat game.
Never before have a played a sequel to a game that took more stuff away than added. That lost more than half the features the fans loved. This is a first for me. Maybe halo reach counts as halo 3 was far better.....same company...funny.
Destiny 2 really is a joke. After 3 years of feedback and 7 years of development this is what we get. The old mechanics chucked in the bin. false hype for the new DLC is just embarrassing.
I haven’t played in about month. I think the only reason old fans are sticking about the forums, this includes me is because it’s hard to admit you lost. We’ve been played, bungie and Activision has our money and our time over the last 3 years. That’s why there is no response, they literally don’t care. This is what destiny is now.
Ask yourself this. What does D2 offer that D1 didn’t? It brings nothing new to the table.

Borderlands 3 might be our lord and saviour Off topic Monster hunter world soon :D

(We’ve been played, bungie and Activision has our money and our time over the last 3 years. That’s why there is no response, they literally don’t care.) Let me tell you what's going to happen. They will respond, they will do something that will look like change. But, in ACTuallityivision it won't be. Micros will still exist. We wont receive any more story or content than they had planned. But they will do things in such a way that it appears that they were listening, then they can carry on doing what they are used to. I love bungie, but I don't think anything short of them splitting from activision and re-releasing with at least twice the content is going to fix anything. Unless they do something really drastic, they are screwed. However, lets be honest. We are all going to get on board with the DLC out of hope. We would even buy D3 out of hope. It's in their hands.

Problem was, it was always a shooter first. That's what Bungie undeniably knows best. When D1 dropped I was disappointed because I was expecting MMO RPG style play mixed with Borderlands shoot-n-loot. It never ever had that range or depth. I think most people were disappointed by that actually. Even In the beta, everyone was worried because of how small everything was, and just how little there was to do. The base game confirmed that. But in Destiny 1 we just kind of realized that MMO RPG wasn't what it was gonna be. It was basically just a linear shooter that tried to exist in an open world. A "shared world shooter" is what it became. So okay, maybe it wasn't that grand. Maybe they had no idea how to do exploring, questing, storytelling, or RPG elements at all. But Destiny was fun because we always had something to chase. Gjallarhorn. Icebreaker. Fatebringer. Vex Mytho. God rolled Luna's. That god damn raid helmet that wouldn't drop. The trials flawless emblem. There was always something to play for. Something to log in and Look forward to. So the RPG wasn't there, but Destiny 1 had it's own way. The carrot on the stick obtained in Rock Solid gameplay. Now, with D2, it lost all of that too. The RPG was never there, and now it just lost everything that kept people playing Destiny 1 in the first place. Zero challenge, zero incentive, zero RPG. So why am I playing? It's why I haven't been.

sadly bungie is no longer that amazing company us older generation cherished =[

3 years of testing in production should be enough time for any development studio to get it right.
-
Borderlands 2 is still 20 bucks on the Xbox store
-
"Someone will get it right someday" Yea, maybe.... But it won't be Bungie.....

Bearbeitet von Abrrinacave: 11/25/2017 4:36:38 PMI hate the 'token in a slot machine' analogy. That's the EXACT SAME WAY reputation worked in the last game. The problem isn't the tokens. The problem is the gear is all bland and there's nothing to grind for.
-
Yep, D2 is a prequel not a sequel. Hopefully d3 or d4 will be the sequel to d1 👍
-
Maybe ANTHEM will do it.

Bearbeitet von FLEXIBLE03: 11/26/2017 5:11:01 AMSomebody will get the game we wanted right, I’m sure of it. But at this point I don’t think that company is Bungie to fulfill that wish. Another studio or developer will learn and make a better game
-
Yes some new developer will just make a better version it won’t be bungo or tardvision Anthem hopefully will kill off destiny for good
-
I don't think Bungie is capable of making Destiny the game we all want. I think they lack the imagination, capabilities, resources, and their leadership CLEARLY lacks focus. Combine that with being completely out of touch with their community and I just don't think Bungie is the company to do it.
-
I hope so. I really do.
-
Would really love to see what Naughty Dog or Rockstar would do with this concept.
-
Yeah Idk how this is the deal breaker. You spent $30 on 5 thrown together story missions and reskins But this is just too far?

I've been thinking about this... if they had released destiny 1 complete collection at launch... that would have been an epic game, a proper AAA title! Destiny 2 could have been the foundation of dlcs... expand on old russia and include edz, including missions/adventures etc... add in a new skill tree for the new supers (not replace) Next dlc would then be CoO... add in mercury and nessus... same additions as before... add in a new skill tree for the second sub class supers Next dlc will be the warmind... add in io, and expand upon existing locations... add in a new skill tree for the final sub class supers Next dlc is the savathun (yep, I know that's wrong!).... same as the warmind, but add in titan... add in a fourth class! There would enough content in this game to practically get rid of rng completely... but that wouldn't get rid of random drops!! Thinking about it that way, seems to me like there's two big issues with the current game: 1. Value for money and 2. Spreading the game too thin!

Bearbeitet von ramthesocket: 11/24/2017 11:21:49 PMGame companies have got it right. It all depends on the audience. I know for solo players skyrim and fallout, and possibly others like persona, were favourites because the company improved the games with each additional number. Destiny went wrong in trying to change the genre which shaped it.

What if.. We had devs with the commitment of Warframe Communication like that of the Overwatch team (aka pappa Kaplan) The visuals and musical direction of Bungie (because let's be honest, they never get music or esthetics wrong for the most part) ALL devoted to making the best Destiny possible? That's a dream and a half.
-
Halo Reach was a good game. The only thing missing was Master Chief, and that had an actually good reason. Unlike D2 where 90% of the features we loved are gone, the reason? Because they've balanced the whole game around pvp. Seriously, did my guardian suddenly think carrying two primaries is cool?

There’s an old(ish. Like 5 years or some shit) game called defiance. They got it right. Unfortunately Trion accidentally killed their own game when a patch somewhere in the fifth month or so made it impossible to connect to other people (in an MMO? Uh oh). They fixed it when they figured out what was wrong. But by then too many people were pissed. Now it’s -blam!-ing amazing and free to play. If they just made it backwards compatible on consoles already I’d be back on it nonstop.
-
Right on. Sadly it will be some small startup that hits it big and then gets bought by some company like Activision or ea and then they will crap it all up for profit.

Played a little bit last week, played 2 iron banner matches this week. No fun what so ever. You know when you have that game that has some functionality and some things you can do offline, but the majority of the game needs an internet connection, Destiny 2 feels like that part you can access without the internet. Incomplete, boring, and bland.
