As long as there are people dumb enough/desperate enough to pay others to carry them, or play the game for them, this problem will always exist. It's simple supply and demand. I can't blame any streamer or player who profits off of what is a very real demand. If there was no demand for doing paid carries or recoveries, then the problem wouldn't exist. The root of the problem is people who are too lazy to put in effort themselves and would rather pay someone else to do it for them.

  • I understand your point, however I consider myself to be an average player at best..... I go flawless every single weekend, most weekends on all 3 characters. I play with buddies and do carries on occasions to help friends out, but by no means am I a great player. Last weekend I lost count how many lighthouse trips I helped with. Either my trials experience is completely different from the majority, or the sweaty-ness of trials is overblown. In my opinion late year 2 was the sweatiest trials has ever been. Year 3 trials has gotten progressively easier and easier to the point where it's starting to get boring. I've also got a good friend irl who started gaming competitively around CoD Ghosts I think. When Destiny came out he was a below average player who has practiced and practiced and practiced.............. and practiced at honing his gun skills, movement, sniping, etc. I would say at this point he's also an average player, and with all the effort he's put in is even a "decently good" sniper. Through nothing but hard work on his part he's earned himself probably 20ish lighthouse trips throughout the 3 years of destiny, and he's the very definition of the type of player that pay to be carried. Difference is he's been willing to put in the effort to improve and get better to make it on his own. A very large chunk of the destiny community don't want to put in the effort.

  • Top 3500 in Trials.... Yazzi, come on now. I float somewhere around 60-80,000 and people act like I'm good. If you think yourself average, I say this lightly... but you have no idea what average is. Effort doesn't sidestep time available, and doesn't touch talent or ability. The joke is that carries, streamers, and laggers are the grand wall around Mercury that the average (or above average) person has to find a crack in to get to the lighthouse. Good thing I don't care about going, but many do, and effort isn't all they need. They can put thirty hours a week into trials and not find the crack. That wall... has the talent/ability to always keep them out, or without those, they are thousands of hours of training and practice ahead of them.
