EDIT: x5: Since some people can't read (Hence why this is up here.), let me re-iterate about the touch in the final Crota fight.
The touch has this great perk called Touch of mercy, in which if you kill 3 enemies slightly quickly, your health will automatically get healed and start regenerating.
So it can start health regen in final crota fight.
Also a tldr at the bottom.
I've been experimenting a bit with the Touch of Malice and Crota's end recently, and have found the gun to be quite potent. Not only does it look cool, but it will probably 2 shot thrall with the last bullet (Currently 1 shots them to the body), allowing for 3 rapid kills, which will heal you and start shield regen, It is also one of the few weapons to circumvent the health regen nerf.
With red death being reduced in the healing department, this could be quite valuable.
And, lets not forget that it can provide constant damage to shields, allowing for easy Crota downs.
So in the event that not much has changed, might want to grab it from the vault or kiosk.
EDIT: Jeez this blew up. This is definitely my most popular post. Had like 32 notifications!
EDIT x2: Gonna do some tests to provide some examples, like testing the damage a full mag of 170 Vision of confluence for shield damage, since the touch of malice last bullet does around the same damage as a Voc archtype bullet.
EDIT x3 After testing at 154 light with 170 Vision of confluence I did enough damage to bring his shield down to half, with a full mag of the gun, Which is 19 bullets. Assuming you have around full health, you can shoot around 20 bullets of the touch's last bullet bringing your health a bit over half of the red zone. You can reload and head to one of the ogre rooms, and have thrall come to you, in which you can kill for your health back. So assuming that the touch's last bullet does the same amount of damage as the Vision, You will deal over half of his shield in one go. If you have more than 3 using it, then he'll go down really fast.
If you want to use the touch for the raid, I have a recommended loadout.
Touch of malice with hammer forged, as the range and accuracy perk, and smart drift control for extra stability. Any shotgun (I personally use the kings fall shotgun) that has life leach, which is another health regenerating perk that wasn't nerfed like the rest.
And whatever rocket launcher you wish to use (For downing swordbearer)
EDIT x4: WE'RE TRENDING???!! Never expected this.
TLDR: Touch can kill stuff quickly, heal you as well as start health regeneration, provide constant damage, and an estimation of 20 last bullets will bring down Crota's shield to half not counting the first 10 regular shots.
So it's pretty cool.
Plus you're literally using Oryx to kill his son.

Need 4 for crotas challenge xbox one Gt is lexter321
-
What's there to dust off? I never got one.
because my raid team kept chickening out at Oryx
-
You should try the Genesis Chain in the Abyss
-
This is pretty interesting. I had no idea TOM had regenerating health as a perk. Usually when I used it I wasn't taking out loads of adds.
-
As another suggestion, try Outbreak Prime. We (all 400's) ran Oryx "Hard Mode" today and a guy suggested using the OutBreak Prime. I brought it along with my Touch, of Malice, just for kicks. After beating the sisters (he used Prime - I used Malice - they died quick), I decided to try the Prime on Oryx. I have no idea why, but it just ate the Ogres alive. About 4 pulls of the trigger and the Ogre just died in place. Same with shooting Oryx in the chest and also killing the Shade. It just wrecked all of them. Once the light level gets to 390 it will be interesting to see how it holds up (a 65 light level difference in my testing), but I was pretty surprised how fast they died.

Unless Bungie actually majorly changes the Crota battle to be a challenging experience, a simple life support scout rifle will suffice and Gjallarhorn should still be a viable option for taking down his shield. I'm interested to see how Telesto does, for soloing purposes. It 3-bursts Crota down, and I'm pretty sure it should do the same to Crota's re-skinned doppelgänger due to the damage cap on the original raid. (Although the prospect of killing Crota with his father is certainly enticing lolol)
-
Ya I personally will be using Red Death
-
I'd much rather use red death since it won't kill me in the process
-
If you have the chalice, without that it would be extremely dangerous to the user (if they don't pay attention)
-
Gah, I regret never running sword. 3 years of Destiny since the beta I never ran sword once. VoG relic? Sure. All jobs in KF? Sure. All jobs in WotM? Sure. Sword? Nuh, bruh.
-
Nah dude. I'm whipping out my Year 1 Gally. It worked then, it'll work now.
-
I think I will dust off my Saturine Rappier with Life Support and Outlaw... :p

Good find my friend. Hopefully bungie wont tamper with this.

Other then the problem that you don't regen health during the fight so it's kind of a bad idea to run malice
-
The Abys will be a walk in the park if you have a Hunter with a tether. We didn't have such tools at our disposal in year one. A Titan with a Helm of Saint 14 was always a good tactic. But if people are worried about the Abys just quit now. It's fairly simple once you know the way and a few well placed rocks to stand on. It's Crota himself you should be worried about. He used to just do what he wanted. Don't get me wrong, it's an easy enough encounter. But if the old glitches are still there and Crota decides to give chase, year 2 and 3 Guardians are going to have fun...........or not?

Bad juju for thrall, ghorn for Crota. Nothing will change
-
Bearbeitet von Lord Yoink N Bag: 3/27/2017 12:48:29 PMI ran the abyss forfun using my hunter with Don't Touch Me and Dark Drinker with a tether. Thralls had no chance. Downing Crota with Sleeper will be fun too
-
Tether nova bomb with obsidian mind bad juju and zhalo supercell will make it obsolete, as much as I like the touch of malice and want it to be viable for that particular section of the raid at the start it's second class
-
Not going to use a gun that takes away heath when you can't recover heath. There are plenty of other options than that gun.
-
obsidian mind with bloom
-
Pff. Nothing manacles for the win.
-
I think it would be difficult to use on crota. Your health doesn't regen in his throne world. So if you're using it on his shield you won't be able to shoot ads to proc the regen perk.
-
Just use any primary with life support
-
Zalo supercell is better, at least in the maze

I used to use Touch during KF for the whole Raid for DPS and easy add clears. When it was at 320 Light, it would 2 shot Thrall and Acolytes to the body and would kill them in 1 Crit. For Knights, it would take 4-6 Crits For Yellow Knights, it would take about 12-15 Crits For Wizards, it would take about 4 to take down shield and 4 Crits to finish For Yellow Wizards, I would assume it would take 5-7 to take down shields and about 10 Crits to kill. This weapon is so much better than people tend to think. The Health Regen is very easy to activate and you lose very little health when shooting. You're ok to Full Auto the thing, you just have to pace your shots, know how much health you will lose per shot, and how many shots it will take to kill 3 adds. You also have to remember that it takes just as many shots to take your shield down as it does to kill you with no shield. Once you get to a very small amount of health, you should stop and take cover. With very minimal practice, you will find it very easy to use without dying.
