There are way too many issues with this game to call it sophisticated.
The fact that it uses some kind of bastardised P2P for servers, which in turn gives those with the worst connections the advantage, means that most of the time you don't know what kills are down to skill or lag.
Couple that with some shady game mechanics which allow for bullets to get you through walls and i would argue that sophistication is the last word i would think of when Destiny is mentioned.
I can't comment on a game like Battlefield 4 on console as i have never played it on anything other than PC.
Not to mention upon its release it was a a bit of a mess.
Now though, the game is so much better and you also have the freedom of dedicated servers which can be policed by the clan that runs them.
No issues with lagging players and as an admin, you could watch a suspect player and kick and ban them, if a ban was necessary.
No such ability with Destiny, and having to wait for Bungie to do something about the issues is a foolish waste of time.
And lets face it. What can you expect from a game that took 12 months to develop?

I believe the story took 12 months the game was in development for quite some time as is the case with most games

Yes, the games story and original game mechanics had been in development for a good number of years prior to release. But the story and the core game we had upon release was more than 80% rewritten within twelve months and had changed substantially from the original, as was attested to by one of the games testers and other more reliable sources. This was because of the pressures put on Bungie by Activision and those pressures caused a number of high profile resignations by some of those who were responsible for Bungie's creation.

Well he wasn't talking about the story but more so how the game plays. The gunplay is phenomenal in this game and anyone who disagrees can go put in a cod game and turn into a zombie for all I care.
-
Yes, i realise that but that is where the OP's argument falls down. I haven't really played a CoD game in multiplayer since COD4, all the others were crap and i've never played zombies. That being said, i have played plenty of other games which were much better at their multiplayer than Destiny. Though it may raise a few eyebrows, and some condemnation, i found that the worst on the list of games that had better multiplayer than Destiny (mechanics wise) was Brink. Though not very well received it did stand up against those games that supposedly had a much higher "pedigree" than itself, and delivered it pretty well.

This is all my opinion of course but the only shooter that really holds anything over destiny is the first 3 halos. Ironically they were all made from bungie even if today's bungie isn't anything like the one that made the original halos. I really fell out of fps games the ultra quick twitch shooters just don't really offer anything to me nowadays, but destiny is one of the few that really challenges you every match. Just changing up your play style or going up against different opponents almost makes the game feel completely different match to match.

It really is sad to think of how awesome Destiny could be.

Yes, i know. It pains me to think what we lost and what we have now.
