I can see that. However, other games have much better counter mechanics in place. There's a difference in making something easy and low risk so that lots of people will use them to making a solid archetype that works well AND is gratifying to use correctly. All that doesn't change that the countering mechanics are broken here. When you have a mechanic like flinch that Auto re-centers in a consistent way what happens then in order to win players become reliant on overcoming the mechanic and less on using gun skill to win. If flinch movement was randomized and did not re-center then the sniper would have to rely on skill to recenter and make the shot. Currently all they have to do is wait for the recenter.

I was not disagreeing with you. Something needs to change. But it won't happen till bungie gets the e-sports contract. Right now it's make them easy to use so every one (even those with little skill) can use them. Builds hype. Sniper montages help bring people in. They see it and want to try and repeat. Ahh I see. Sorry about that. That's an interesting perspective that they'll never admit to I would think. Do you truly believe that IF they get into e-sports that they would change this? Would enough of visibility into the issues force them to balance them properly?

It's not enough visibility. There is enough focus on it now. But in order to get into e-sports they have to partner with some one. With halo is was Microsoft footing the bill for the tournaments. Microsoft helped push balance in the right direction for halo. Passions on this game run high. You already have e-sports players coming to get those "cool" sniper kills. Bungie uses formal MLG players to test weapon changes. All bungie needs now is for some one to foot the bill, provide equipment, and pony up for the prizes. Who ever does that will be the one to say "make it more dramatic. Pull snipers back". That's when it will change. No one is going to watch 6 players strafe back and forth in a hall way to get a kill. Till then bungie will keep the sniper meta. Makes people feel "skilled" and helps bring them in.
