So when bungie announced that there would no longer be a weekly cap on marks, people got super excited. Here's why:
Pre-update 2.0, completing one strike in the strike playlist awarded 6 vanguard marks every time. Crucible matches awarded 3 or more Crucible marks at the end of every match. The key word here is every. Marks would simply stop being earned at 100 marks per week.
Post-update 2.0 however, neither strikes nor crucible matches award marks per every completion. Marks are only awarded once for the daily heroic story and daily crucible gametype, and the first two or three completions in the heroic strike playlist. Also, since legendary marks are shared between characters, daily heroic story/crucible gametype can only be completed for marks once per account, not per character.
Bungie's attempt to make this currency more accessible has had the opposite effect. While there is no limit to how many marks you can earn per week, there is no way to earn more than roughly 40 marks per day (15 from crucible, 15 from daily heroic, not sure how many from heroic strikes just yet).
Feel free to post in the comments with your own solution to this marks issue.
EDIT: The solution I am seeing appear a lot in the comments is 5 marks per strike, and 3-5 marks per match, depending on win or loss.
EDIT2: So after the weekly reset, I ran heroic playlist 5 times but only received 10 marks the first 3 times. Just my experience. I have yet to try this new crucible mode though... can anyone explain it to me?
EDIT3: So I tried out the new crucible mode! Things to note:
-The 10 Legendary marks reward is only awarded if you win
-Only a possible total of 30 marks can be won as of now, marks stop dropping after third win
-It is still unclear if this is another daily crucible event that will award marks daily, or a weekly event that resets on Tuesday

I'm okay with the current system with the exception of not being able to get marks from the Crucible. I'm thinking 4 marks for a win and 2 for a loss seems fair. Once you've done the daily crucible, there is very little incentive to play it again that day. Especially, when my primary goal right now is to get better gear.
-
If they are just going to disappear at weekly reset like it appears they did, then yes they should be rewarded for every strike. Lost 70 over night.
-
To everyone here, I don't think the OP is implying the marks are too hard for PvE, but rather, the PvP aspect of things. Sure you acquire 15 for doing one daily match, but what about after that? It's easy to say just do more PvE content, but the fact is, there was a perfect system in place beforehand that didn't require you to do so. Why they changed this is beyond me.

I voted keep as is. I like the Legendary Mark system. Marks are rare enough to make them valuable, but not so rare that you are always running short when you need to infuse/upgrade equipment. You are correct when you state you get them from the daily heroic story mission, the daily crucible activity, and for your first three heroic strikes. However, you did not mention that you can also earn up to an additional 25 legendary marks in a heroic strikes as a random drop. So while you are only guaranteed a TOTAL of 30 legendary marks from heroic strikes, you can still get them from the heroic strike as a random drop. Furthermore, you can earn legendary marks by completing certain quests and taking apart Y2 legendary items. In the first week alone, I've probably earned close to 200 legendary marks whilst only playing on ONE character. I just bought my dead orbit chest piece last night to mostly complete my set (still need helmet, but I'm wearing an exotic anyways). They are not supposed to be super easy to get but they're not supposed to be impossible to get either. And I think they have struck the right balance.

This! Pissed me off so much when I realised that I was essentially playing crucible for no reward... Again

Bearbeitet von total_putts: 9/21/2015 12:44:15 PMI would look at adding them to public events with a daily cap on how many you earn that way. Edit: Public events make each planet more dynamic. The frame is there to make public events a larger part of the game they just need to be expanded.

Bearbeitet von ValiantBlu: 9/22/2015 2:07:52 PMWeekly heroic grants 10, but can be done 3 times for marks, so 30 Your weekly cap on renewable sources is 240 30 a day for both dailies, and 30 a week from strikes So 30(7) = 210, another 30 makes 240 Many quests do give marks which will boost you in the beginning but once those run out, buying all the gear you want will take weeks It's nice that characters share marks so you can focus on one characters upgrades without having to play as hat character On the other hand, when marks were separate you could upgrade all three characters twice every 2 weeks (mark cap was 100 weekly for crucible/vanguard, wallet for both held 200, most gear cost more than 100, in two weeks you could buy 1 vanguard gear + 1 crucible gear for each character). With this system you're really only going to progress on one character once a week once you run out of quests that give marks.

Bearbeitet von Senor Crouch: 9/21/2015 4:41:43 AMOne of the biggest and most glaring problems I see with the current Legendary Marks system is the HUGE unintended consequence that directly affects PvP. With how scarce Marks are to obtain, you will soon start to see a trend (if you haven't already) of people who enter the daily Crucible challenge specifically for the Marks, doing very little to participate in the match. Win or lose, Marks are obtained. This will begin to undermine the PvP part of the community who want to go up against people who are at least going to try. Now since I don't necessarily trust Bungie to understand what I'm saying, worrying that they will see this and think, "Oh well we'll make it so that Legendary Marks are only earned for the winning team" or something like that, I'll put it bluntly: there needs to be a greater source of obtaining these Marks. A re-implementation of a Strike Mark reward system should be looked at. You have a new consecutive Strike reward system in place, why not expand on it where the first victory rewards 1 Mark, second consecutive victory rewards 2 Marks, and 3+ consecutive victories reward 3 Marks. This same concept should also be installed into the Crucible playlist too.

Be it a weekly cap (pre-ttk) or limiting availability. There are more links than what I posted, but a small sample is enough.

Bearbeitet von Millzey: 9/21/2015 8:07:17 PMWhy u want marks just handed to you, just like everyone wants stuff handed to them. There really not hard to get at all, I work full time but do also put a few spare hours into destiny, I've had over 400 since Tues already between two chars. If there 10 marks a strike -blam!- me everyone will just buy everything, within 2-3 hours gameplay you could buy an exotic blueprint or a weapon or two bits of armour, that would be a joke
-
They've always done that since day 1... 1 step forward and 2 steps back... They go together, cause bungie is on crack!

Bearbeitet von KUNZIE: 9/22/2015 1:44:18 AMAgree. Not everyone can play everyday and therefore can't earn many marks. Before this I could just grind crucible over and over again, which I actually enjoyed. Now, after one crucible match it's completely useless to keep playing. So not only do I miss out on marks because I am not playing everyday, I am also not playing crucible anymore. I think bungie should totally fix this.
-
You get marks when you dismantle legendaries. Run the heroic strikes and dismantle any legendary you don't need.
-
This explains a lot... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bD80DQv2o44
-
frankly its not hard to get marks shit just with daily story then PvP daily that's 30 and I pulled another 60+ with just legendary drops that wouldn't boost my own gear or drops that I just didn't like . and most of those drops were from dreadnaught enemies and court of oryx drops . shit people are acting all broke and everything
-
Why not aquire them the same way we earned vangaurd and crucible marks? The only reason Bungie did what they did is to keep people grinding longer.
-
i would agree to it being the way it is if infusing actually tranfered all the light level and if legwndaries are guaranteed to drop atr least 1 light higher than your currently equiped item for that slot(up to 300)
-
I'd say heroic strikes should yield 10 per completion every time. Crucible should yield 5 per loss and 10 per win. Bungie should also increase the storage cap to 400.
-
I have over 200 already, with 2 characters at 290 light....
-
They did that in order to string people along and keep them grinding until the next paywall.
-
It's fine the way it is. You also get marks by dismantling legendary year 2 gear.
-
Bearbeitet von cypherhalo: 9/21/2015 4:10:25 PMMight be unpopular but I'm fine with the way marks are being handled in TTK. I like that they're account wide actually because it is less pressure to run 3 characters, which was just annoying and honestly, for someone like me far too time-consuming. I think the game is much friendlier this way and still proceeds at a good pace. I've been mainly using marks to infuse gear and I'm hitting high light levels and getting plenty of gear from drops and quests. Once I'm done infusing, I'll work on saving to buy specific gear.
-
It's fine how it is

40 a day is 280 a week, and encourages gamers to play every day.
