You won't get away without showing K/D. Because the players will demand it.

Get away? I'm not suggesting anything to "get away" with. I didn't say not to show it. I said don't highlight it. It's on the first page. It could be moved to another page. Something more relevant should be on the first page, IMHO. Showing K/D ratio in objective based PvP makes about as much sense as showing what weapon (or supper) the player got the most kills with, or who killed them the most. I shared my thoughts, would you share yours? Are you saying you would demand to see K/D ratio in objective based PvP modes or that other players (not you) would? Why did you use the phrasing "get away" in your reply? If you think K/D should remain on the first page, please explain why.

  • Because it matters to most people who play these games. To the point some good players refuse to cap or defend control points because of the higher likelihood of getting killed compared to running around playing TDM. In a perfect world, you'd be right. But this world isn't perfect, and you're trying to take on a number that too many gamers see as the sole expression of your competence and credibility as a competitive shooter player. IOWs you'd be spitting into a hurricane.

  • I think you should have said some people that consider themselves good players refuse to cap or defend control points because of the higher likelihood of getting killed compared to running around playing TDM.Good players play the objective in objective based games. I player can't intelligently consider themselves good if they are letting their team die, or lose, at the cost of their personal K/D ratio. On top of this with the lag issues I didn't think anyone could take this games PvP or their K/D ratio serious. It'd be interesting to see them change it. TDM, sure, if all that matters to them is K/D ratio there is a place for that. Personally, I'd be fine if K/D ratio wasn't tracked at all in non-competitive team objective PvP. Track it where it matters, skip it where it don't. No one cares about a basketball players 3 point percentage at a dunk contest. Sure, 3 point percentage matters in a full on basketball game and it is a measure of player skill, but it doesn't matter when your doing a team dunk contest. Same way that K/D ratio maters in PvP and it is a measure of player skill, but it doesn't matter so much in team based objective PvP. Granted K/D ratio does matter in any PvP game more than 3 point percentage in a dunk contest, but not more than score, and that's my point. Obviously, K/D ratio does matter in PvP. So, I suggest we track it and list it without abandon where it's of high relative importance. It should be done in relation to the game mode and game mode design. I get your point, I do. But I think it's the responsibility of the Developer to promote varied game play. One way to do this is buy shifting the focus from K/D to more team based contributions through points. One of the most fun games I every played online was BFBC2, I really enjoyed it. So did many other players, some still do. It didn't focus on K/D for team based objective PvP, but rather points. It was MUCH more competitive than Destiny up to this point. One of the things I enjoyed most in that game was feeling like my team was working with me, with a common goal and understanding. In Destiny, often, I feel like I'm fighting my team of randoms as much as the enemy sometimes. That is a design flaw, and something Bungie should work to fix. What do you think of the heavy ammo points for delay idea?

You're preaching to the choir, Pastor. I'm already IN church. The problem is that you are trying to push a VERY big rock, up a very big hill, with a VERY steep slope. You' re going to war against a number that is VERY deeply entrenched in the minds of the competitive shooter community.
