What is REALLY happening to Nightfalls... They aren't being paywalled, here's why
Nightfalls are not being stuck back behind a Taken King paywall, contrary to popular belief. Neither are the Weekly and Daily.
Let's take a look back to the original Weekly Update quote

From here, it looks like Nightfalls will be locked behind Taken King. But one word changes that.

Now, we all know the Nightfalls are not new. This means that they will not be locked. The stuff that will are:
King's Fall
Weekly Crucible Bounties
Court of Oryx
Nightfalls that feature a Taken King strike.
Your old raids and nightfalls are safe. Rejoice Guardians.
EDIT: People keep trying to say that because the Nightfall is updated, it is new. So here is this. When you install an update to Destiny, is it now a completely new game? No, it was just changed in some ways. Same applies here.

The "new endgame" seems to be a global term for the redesigned endgame content in Year two - including Nightfall. While existing raids will be available, I doubt your limited "new" defense will hold up. Logic is fun. By removing context and focusing on a single word you can create wonderful conclusions. But I would rather keep that context and use a mix of logical inference, and experience. From the update: 1) [quote]Once you’ve completed the new story campaign, a whole new suite of endgame activities will beckon.[/quote] 2) Discussion follows, Nightfall has been redesigned for Year 2, Weekly strikes moved to Vanguard Heroic. 3) [quote]Oryx lies between you and these challenges[/quote] While the article is ambiguous in that special Bungie way, it is neither unreasonable, nor stupid to conclude that participation on Nightfall strikes in year 2 will require purchase of TTK. From a business perspective, I cannot see why bungie would continue to service users who are making no further contribution. For those of us who do buy the TTK expansion, doing so radically devalues the content offering.

There is no concrete information about whether the new nightfall is locked unless you own TTK or not. It's cryptic as pet usual. Regardless this is year 2 we're entering and if you're really invested in Destiny you'll pick up TTK.

5 AntwortenSo you think there will be 2 lots of nightfalls? 1 old and 1 new? I'll tell you now they won't, they'll still be nightfalls, just a little different. Also, the nightfall will just rotate ttk strikes, we will never get an old strike on nightfall again. So in my opinion, if you don't buy ttk, no more nightfall strikes for you.

I think you just have to complete the 10 missions to access the new endgame stuff. They did the same thing in TDB with the omnigul nightfall, couldn't play it until you did the missions
