Why The Hate on Vaping?
I've noticed that as the trend of Vaping (e-cigarettes) grows, there is a larger base of people who feel the need to attack the idea and the users of it, and my question to you, whether you are apart of this community of people with this dislike of vaping, or you are not, what's the reason for this objection?
Firstly, let me start off by saying that I'm not trying to victimize vapers, I understand that you would be pissed off if someone was obnoxiously chucking clouds in your personal space, that's just rude and that person is probably just a douchebag in general.
What I don't understand is why I'm automatically considered a douchebag for vaping. I've seen multiple threads for vape discussion, and they're all met with a few people attacking the whole entire concept. I get that it might be seen as an outlet for self-validation, but the same can be said for almost anything on a forum. We're (users of a forum) all just here to be included in a community and make some friends after all.
Look, I chewed tobacco for about 5 years straight, which might not sound to bad, but on some days I felt that I was never going to quit. I posted a thread here to ask for advice on how to quit, and was directed to vaping. The next day I got a little starter kit, and I've been pretty much clean for 5 months, if we don't include a hiccup I had at a party. My mouth feels better, my teeth are whiter, I'm a happier person, I don't feel dependent anymore (I haven't even taken a rip off my vape today). 5 years doesn't sound like a lot, but it changed my life for the better. It's an anecdote, but I just want you guys to understand that it's a healthy way out of an unhealthy addiction for many people. Yes, you can bring up the kids who start doing it not even having a prior addiction, but I mean would you rather have these impressionable kids vaping or getting into cigarettes?

Bearbeitet von Dietrich Six: 6/17/2015 10:18:44 PMUnfortunately it's associated with people picking up vaping to be cool or hip. I smoked a pack a day for ten years and started vaping 8 months ago. I still have the odd cigarette or two when I'm drinking but for the most part I don't touch cigarettes anymore. I'm now down to 3mg nicotine and I feel a hell of a lot better. No more heart murmur, no more chest pains, I breathe easier and I can be more physically active. People deriding vaping usually land in the "it's a trend" category, and I can understand that. The cloud competitions, ridiculous builds, variety of flavors, all of that factor in to people thinking it's a joke and that vapers are children with a new toy. At the same time though there are plenty of ex smokers like myself that benefit greatly from vaping. Now I'm rambling, people don't like new things, screw em anyway.

I don't find it negative, I just find drinking, smoking, and drugs are generally harmful.

I don't have a problem when the person is trying to quit, or even if they have quit and smoke them nicotine free. I can kinda understand the vape modding community, cos everything that can be modded usually is. It's the people who have never smoked and have no interest in the custom side of things who do it for the fun of vaping. Vaping is cancerous. More or less than cigarettes isn't known yet but it's still bad for you.

People shouldnt make fun of or say something looks stupid if its helping people quit smoking. The only thing I don't like is all the flavors. And the tobacco or unflavored taste like ass.

3 AntwortenI think there's an opinion going round that people aren't using e-cigs as a way of getting off normal cigs (how they were originally marketed), they are using them as a legal alternative; which means people are still getting addicted to the nicotine which means it's still bad.

This is not because of vaping, this is because those people are naturally obnoxious assholes. Most of us vapers simply are trying to quit using natural nicotine, and are trying to avoid the already obnoxious cigarette smoke or tobacco spit, as well as the obvious danger in smoking. In fact, the goal is to Vape less and less, to stop smoking completely. If kids do it because it looks cool, blame the goddamn parents, FFS. They can't get ahold of the Vape unless they find someone to get it from. However, even in the worst cases, e-liquid can be mixed without nicotine, making it virtually harmless. Vaping is a huge improvement from normal tobacco use, and eliminates most of the obnoxious elements of use (smell, second hand smoke, pollution, littering) that people have been complaining about for centuries. In all reality, those who are against vaping are probably the same people who are against homosexual marriage; they don't like it personally as an opinion, so therefore nobody should be able to do it.

1 AntwortenI don't have an issue with it. There isn't enough data on it yet to say for sure that's it's better than reg cigs though. It quite possible it's just as bad. We already know it has carcinogens in it.
