I voted no for 2 reasons. 1- I don't think Bungie would want to disable fireteams. Take 4 players into a 6 max FFA and you can fix the match results. If it can be manipulated then the scumbags will manipulate it. It would need to be lone wolves only and Bungie must realise by now that the only thing keeping this game fun anymore is the people we play with. 2- This type of game mode isn't actually competetive. It sounds like a reskin of Regicide from Halo 4, which any decent player would tell you was just an exercise in frustraion as the only moments that matter are the final few. You could hose over the entire match then get blink-shotgunned 5 seconds from time and get nothing, while little Tommy 4 for 20 walks out with the legendary you held the entire game. If the goal is to satisfy elite or competetive players, the last place you should ever look for inspiration is 343i.

  • Actually I'm a PlayStation lifer... I've never played Halo in my life. Not even at a friends house And good point on the fire team, I never thought it could be fixed... But then I would have to retaliate and make it even more rewarding and make it 40 rep points without Nightfall week long XP bonus and put 12 players in the match (I forget the limit in FFA so if it's already 12 then even if there was a fire team of 6 you still can't fix the game.. Plus finding 5 people to help you by not playing a game with you for more than 10 min would literally be impossible lol)

  • Increasing the number of players wouldn't work. -For a start it wouldn't prevent match fixing in a FFA enviroment. 6 players working together coukd defend each other from the 6 lone wolves with relative ease, as not only do the solo's have to overcome a 1v6 encounter, but also survive the the othe 5 solo's. -Finding players to help out would be as simple as merely knowing 5 people. This kind of boosting has been going on for as long as I've been gaming. Almost certainly longer. They just take turns being the guy who profits. Nuke boosting back on MW2 being a prime example, yet this whole idea provides greater incentives than that ever did. - Even assuming 12 randoms in a match and no cheating in play, the maps just simply aren't able to support it. Dying right off spawn happens with some frequency as it is and I shudder to think how distasteful a 12 man FFA would be on Anomaly or Exodus Blue. I'm not opposed to some form of mode like this existing in the crucible and I'm not trying to pee in your cornflakes out of some irrational fear of change. I've just been through all this already with Halo 4 so I know how it ends. When you take a game that wasn't designed to be competetive and try and force competetive play out of it, you just end up with a watered down casual experience that casual nor competetive will enjoy. From a competetive players perspective, the crucible is a lost cause. Trying to force it to be something it isn't will just spoil it for the casual who can find enjoyment in what it is, and using loot to incentivise competetive play will only bring in the morally bankrupt booster types. Basicly I'm trying to point out that the crucible isn't worth the thought you've obviously put into this, as it was a failure even as a concept and requires a full redesign if it's to satisfy competetive players. There are too many unnecessary gimmicks and hand holding mechanics in there for it to be anything other than a sanctuary for people who just want to(and there's nothing wrong with this) mindlessly shoot stuff.
