I like PvP more than PvE. 🤷‍♂️ And every point you made about PvE players in PvP could be said about PvP players in PvE. I think it’s a very fair assessment. If you start going “but they’re only there cuz’...” you’ll end up with no one left. Fact is you choose to enter it, or not and those are the numbers we should use. Regardless why you’re there, you’re there.

 • Reasons why do matter when you’re talking about where to center design choices. If pvp only sees those numbers because pve players are inflating the count for bounties, then pvp shouldn’t be the center. You’d be balancing around the opposite of what the players want and we’d be pissed off, one for the mistake and two for the wait time to get it fixed. That would drive people away, which would affect pvp with diminished players in the pool. So I mean, you wouldn’t be doing yourself many favors.

 • Of course it matters in design choices. I was just originally trying to make the point that people do in fact go into the modes for their various reasons and then went on to say that no matter what side of the aisle you’re on PvE or PvP loving you’ll have to delve into the other occasionally for things you want. I said nothing about balancing, or anything. I just said the numbers reflected similar populations. I feel so many words have been put into my mouth about this. Not just you, although I harbor no resentment to you.

 • Probably because you said in a topic about balancing and design choices. It’s also the exact reasoning used by pvp players to justify more focus on pvp. It’s not really putting words in your mouth. You made a counter argument against OP by saying both sides are even. By your own admission, you know the numbers don’t accurately reflect anything. So why did you bring them up? So...to be fair, you set yourself up for it.

 • I feel like I’m going insane. At no point was balance ever mentioned first, by me. I specified just now why I said what I did. Believe what you want, man. It’s there. I’m done taking all the salt from people who don’t like PvP just because others say it has a place in the game and the salt-bearers can’t get over it. Now I harbor resentment towards you.

 • Balance is the topic under which you chose to reply. You can’t avoid a subject when it’s the focal point of the conversation you’re taking part in. Unless you clarify your intentions. If you don’t, you’ll get the responses you did. All I said is it looked like you were making a rebuttal, not simply listing the stats. Your lack of clarity caused this problem for you. Pvp has a place as the secondary consideration. Pve gets primary, you can’t have a 95% pve game and not design around it. Basic 101. Resent me all you want my friend. A random persons superficial opinion about means what exactly? 🧐🤔🤔🤔🤷‍♂️

 • Yeah not really. If we accept that those numbers don't represent anything, then why would we still use them to prove something? Since the numbers don't represent anything definitive, what you say based on them is also don't represent anything. A PvE player could get recluse or Mt and spent so much time in PvP, and hate every second of it and bears it only for its usage in PvE. This doesn't make that person a PvP player. Also, vice versa. A PvP player can play raid countless times to get a specific gun and only bears with it for PvP usage of the said loot.

 • Are you sure we are talking about the same thing? I wasn’t sure what to take from this. Liking one or the other doesn’t change whether you do it in every instance.

 • Yes we are, this is what you said isn't it
I like PvP more than PvE. 🤷‍♂️ And every point you made about PvE players in PvP could be said about PvP players in PvE. Regardless of why you are there, you are there" I'm saying that if you accept that it's mix bag of numbers, you can't use them as evident of anything as they don't really represent meaningful data

 • But why not? That’s EXACTLY why we should. We can’t parse them any better (I’m sure Bungie can). I also never said anything about about it not meaning anything. If anything this is BEST because it accounts for EVERYONE for all reasons. If you play PvP like breathing or you were there for a quest, you were there. Same as PvE. Whether you liked that raid and are doing it for fun or to get Divinity, you did it.

Also sorry but your logic doesn't make a lick of sense. If the numbers doesn't mean anything, you can't use them for anything. Those aren't total number of people playing the game, those aren't populations of PvP or PvE players. And if you don't think why players play PvP and PvE doesn't matter since they play then you are defying the basis of law systems. Why matters

 • Sorry, but you’re wrong. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t like putting things in black and white, but this one is. You’re saying things that just aren’t true/coherent.
