You're a pve game, please understand that
You're pvp population is actually quite small. It looks big only because of all the pve players getting shit. You won't become fortnite. You will always be this size. Only way to improve is embrace the PVE aspect of your game. Otherwise you're just gonna cause stunts in growth

LoL I can’t wait for Bungie to go back to the old model where you go 6 months without PvE content. Then you can brag about your “huge” pve playerbase....LoL PvP is what got most players through those long droughts.

The game has both options of PVE and PVP. You can argue semantics here all day long, but when you boil it down, anyone can play whatever they want. If your an f2p guy that didn't pay for dlc's than maybe your focus is solely PVP, If you enjoy lore and a story than maybe you enjoy PVE, nobody forced anyone to play anything, you made the choice to do whatever in this sandbox. PVP has been there since Destiny 1, if you weren't there when D1 was out then maybe thats why you can't understand that its not leaving anytime soon. Those PVP guys won't likely be in your PVE modes, unless its to farm weapons from Nightfalls to use in PVP. You can play against cpu's that don't tend to change, or actual people that probably play other shooter games, its a matter of choice. If you struggle with something maybe change up how you play: PVE it could be mods or certain weapons with high DPS you could be using for a nightfall or dungeon, or maybe take more time if its not timed event, if you need people to raid you have a fireteam tab. PVP, avoid open areas and don't rush unless you like getting dropped by a sniper, avoid snipers if you see them, if someone ran and hid they probably are waiting around the corner with a shotgun, the meta is AR's but use what you normally know how to use, or try an learn a new gun to change up how you engage the opponent.

PVP and PVE, each with it's own loot pool, quests, pinnacle weapons and armor that are only good in it's respective activity, and if you use them in the other activity, it should be completely weak and useless. Each group would have it's own thing and you can have more loot to chase without making us chase what we already have. You can even have unique perks in each activity so one can't force a nerf in the other. What's wrong with that? Also..... gimme back my sparrow horn!

Just because it has PvE doesnt make it a PvE game. Division has integrated PvE and PvP, doesnt make it one or the other.

11 RepliesNah PvP is an amazing side of this game and I'd say it has far more endgame potential than PvE. At the moment PvP has issues mainly with things such as cheating, carries, recovs, etc but also with their matchmaking/lobby balancing actually working potentially needing a rewrite to how people's "skill" is calculated.

Destiny has offered pvp and pve since launch it’s a hybrid game it has always had pvp and pve quests and drops. 45% of all players who played destiny 2 yesterday played crucible so not exactly a small number

1 ReplyThis game is both. This BS has gotten to the point where I say accept it or LEAVE. Want PvE only? Go play some Diablo or Borderlands and games like that. For those who want PvP only there aren't many games like Destiny that are PvP focused sadly. And on that note ever consider why Bungie has kept PvP around? Because its unique. List me a game where your PvE can be brought into PvP or vice versa, its not static, and its a first person shooter in a RPG style environment on top of having advanced movement in a fantasy setting. PvP in Destiny is its completely own thing. Some days I loath the PvE, some days I loath the PvP. But because the game has both I can do either. So many of you on here talk about having choice and wanting more choice, well guess what. There's choice right here between PvE and PvP and you're advocating to remove it. A big choice too. Remove PvP and I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of the playerbase left and never came back. Remove PvE and you would do the same. This game and many aspects of it both within the lore and systems rely on both. This universe of Destiny would not be the same with PvE or PvP missing. So you can either just play PvE and ignore PvP and accept that this game is mixed or go find another game that only does PvE so you can get what you're looking for. Don't expect the game to change its identity simply because you don't enjoy PvP. Thats like asking anything of a certain genre to change its genre because you dont like it.

You have a point. But, they could do both if they would separate the two better. Don't force people who only want to play only PvP into PvE activities. Rewards you earn in PvP should stay in PvP, though. Don't make people do quest steps that cross boundaries like that, it can just make people bitter about the whole game. BTW - second paragraph; "You're" should be "Your". I know, I know, Grammar Police. Sorry.

I’d disagree, Destiny is both pve and pvp. It’s a big misconception that there’s a huge gap between the players playing pve and pvp when really if you actually break down the numbers (which are taken from destiny tracker) pvp is only about 15 percent lower than pve (math there may be slightly off). I honestly think it’s time bungie stopped catering to one or the other and do what they done great in d1: cater to both.

PvE should rule the day, but there just isn't enough content to feed the loot addicted fan base. So, PvP is there to keep people busy. Unfortunately, it's been hijacked by the over zealous tryhards and sweats. This includes much of the streamers as well.
