It takes more skill to be consistently successful with shotguns than snipers.
One weapon demands that you get point blank with your enemies. The other does not.

You sir. I like you.

It's okay, people are using snipers like shotguns anyways now!
-
What if you have a shotgun and a sniper illuminate confirmed.
-
Getting point blank with your enemies in tight maps like destinys isn't so hard. Snipers take a lot more aim then shotguns though, like seriously shotguns take no aim and to me that means no skill, closing a gap with blink or a simple sprint slide works so easy and often for most of this games engagements.

It's harder than camping in the far corners of maps.
-
Least I'm not camping corners tho
-
I think it's the difference between sprinting and just sliding and carefully aiming.

And th dumbasses who let those people close those gaps.

Back in the day, when the only option to stop them from closing the gap was a thorn or a last word I used a scout rifle and got brutally punished for it. I still have that salt today, and it'll always make me look down on shotguns. Since then, I play like I have a restraining order with the enemy to keep the gaps wide, then primarily use a scout rifle and to the die hardcore shotgunners that blink and slide I use the chaperone for a easy pop in the head.
