Exclusives sells consoles.
Has been this way since gaming consoles were invented, and it will be a selling point for a long time to come.
Let Microsoft (and Nintendo to a lesser degree) have some good exclusives.
It is good for the competition, and sparks innovation and the desire to produce quality in companies.
I have a ps5, but will be getting a Series S for on the side with game pass, just to play MS exclusives next year.
So their strategy is working.

i understand it sells consoles, but man... it is exhausting keeping up with which console is the best to have each generation. i just wanna play on what i want with the games i want!

Oh I can relate to that, but sadly this is not the case. But on either of the 'next gen' consoles, you will have the opportunity to play awesome games.

For Microsoft it hasn’t been working for quite some time, especially with their flagship franchise in halo. Plus them going back to exclusives is just counter productive to how they’ve been marketing IE game pass, games with gold, backwards compatibility all for the sake of being inclusive. I’m with OP but I’m also one of those people that believes exclusives really don’t serve a purpose, you want your console to sell? Have the largest library of games possible while having your console have something tech wise that others don’t. I mean game pass is something Microsoft has over the ps plus thing? Don’t know what ps uses but I know game pass has far more options for the price that it is.

Oh game pass is a really nice service and it is indeed quitte a good service. But Nintendo and Sony prove that exclusive games and a strong brand are the way to go if you want to sell your console . A combination of game pass and exclusive Xbox console games, can and probably is the way how Microsoft is going to strengthen its market share in this generation. Either way we as a consumer are only going to benefit from this. Sony has to step up its game, which is always a good thing in the long run.

PS Now is the underwhelming equivalent to gamepass.
