lol it’s always been a sniper meta until they added massive flinch and added the meter or gave one shot.
Especially controller sniper. Do you not remember the playing three controller pk titans on cloudstrike.

It’s cloud strike not all snipers and specifically cheaters that use it because it has all upsides (one shot kills a whole team) low zoom pulse rifles that two tap from Narnia is always the dumbest and most boring meta 🤷🏻♂️
-
You don’t need to cheat to hit consistent snipes on controller.
-
Well the irony is pulses flinch more than any other weapon in the game… so if I may ask… why the hell does everyone run shotguns if snipers are meta? lol not hard to hit sniper shots, but no one can be shooting you. Why they are one of the most unused special.
-
Because snipers have less ammo now and clones and swarms and smokes can displace a sniper. Snipers also get massively flinched. I’m glad they nerfed them. The five percent nerf was hardly noticeable though. If you look at crazy good sniper players like sayariu and karadeniz you will see that you literally can’t peek a single lane without getting domed. While this isn’t representative of average skill, using controller sniper and being decent at sniping can slow the game to a standstill because no one wants to peek and die. Even scrimms only allow one sniper per team because of how strong they are.

Did you watch Sayariu's stream at all after the sniper nerfs? The few times he uses a sniper in scrims, he misses more shots than he hits and most of the time he just runs a shotgun anyway... that's how "good" controller snipers currently are.

Haven’t Watched recently no

Scrims are not a good example - they are full of senseless, arbritray, and out-of-date rules. I also don't think the game should be balanced around individual players. Snipers are undoubtedly less popular than shotguns. They're being used less than half as much as shotguns on some of the biggest maps in the game (Trials this last weekend). I believe that variety makes Destiny more fun. When one special weapon is overused or overrepresented, it makes PVP feel more repetitive. I would like to see more Special weapon variety, and that includes adding more snipers to PVP (and also more GLs, fusions, glaives, trace rifles, linears, etc.).
-
Variety of weapons by introducing more snipers will be at the cost of variety in gameplay. What I mean by that is if Snipers are good, more people use them and the game turns into a snooze fest of controller snipers hardscoping lanes and no one wants to slide anyone because you will get domed. Sniping on controller is so much better than mnk and is much more of a problem. While there may be some demon on mnk sniper , controller sniper is far more consistent and makes it viable to more average players and allows good players to abuse it. TLDR: nerf roller sniper. It’s boring.

But... No one is using snipers on console, either... And that's 100% controllers...? I think there is some bias at play. Maybe your particular playstyle is countered by snipers more readily than the average player's playstyle, so you think snipers are OP. Also, keep in mind that hardware cheaters appear as controller users. They will never appear as M&K users.

I feel like I share this view with a lot of really good players who are obviously better than me. Also I believe the current meta of smoke clone and swarm counters the snipers so some extent. However you do bring up a very good point about bias. It might be because I generally have a more aggressive playstyle and I like to ego slide into engagements and keep pushing even if it may not be the smart or the correct play. I have used snipers a bit and after bungie killed aggressive sniping I find the current sniping playstyle to be so boring. Unless you are on pk smg sniper.
